I really can't figure it out. I am ardently opposed to the belief that this has anything to do with academics, and realize the move is about more money. But what is the overarching reason that makes them so against joining the SEC. It makes more sense geographically and financially. Do they just think that they will no longer be the big fish in the sea as the SEC would put their arrogant asses along an equal playing field for the first time in years?

aTm and OU should just say fvck the conference rivalry, the move to the Pac makes no sense when given the opportunity to the SEC.

If expansion is inevitable for the SEC, we should take advantage of the schools to our west rather than plugging in pre-existing markets that don't bring much to the table with teams like Clemson and FSU

Several reasons.

I) B/c TX is used to controlling the conference they are in. They would not be able to pull that off in the SEC.

II) TX does not want to give the SEC schools more of an advantage in recruiting TX.

III) TX is concerned that they would not be able to successfully recruit against the SEC (They'll toe around the issue but in short, they think the SEC teams cheat too much at recruiting).

IV) TX will lose more games in the SEC. TX would have to get up for games every week, they don't have to do that in the Big XII nor would they with the PAC 10. There is not the same type of competition in the Big XII.

Those are the ones that come to mind offhand.

Good reasons and likely. I do find it funny how they are trying to control the move of aTm for similar reasons. Hypocrisy at it's finest.

Texas wants control of wherever they go and with USC in trouble right now by going out West they will get a jump on USC and USC would loose their hold on the Pac-10 and Texas would be in the drivers seat out there.

If they came to the SEC they would not have the control as elsewhere and also they open the state of Texas to the rest of the SEC and hurt them in recruiting. It want destroy them but it would hurt them. The other thing is what would happen to Oklahoma if they don't come to the SEC?

I feel that Texas, Texas A&M and Oklahoma should come to SEC along with Oaky St. But Texas realy does not want this because they would have a harder path to the BCS NC game than if they went out west.

FSU!!!!

The very reason they did not come into the SEC when first offered. Easy pickings in the ACC. The fruit is low on the branch in the PAC????. Long term they will pay for their lazy road out. I live in Soth Carolina and as an LSU Alum was glad to see the Cocks come to the conference for my own selfish reasons and have had season tickets here ever since. Texas will regret their laziness and realize too late, "You want to be a big boy, you play with the big boys".

If this is true, I love the timing of this conference shake up and usc's penalities.

What scares Texas so much about the SEC? Easy answer:

Jackie Sherrill is still hanging around MSU.
