vs Alabama (have played for many years straight)

vs Auburn (did not play annually until about '92 or so with division of East and West)

vs Florida (have played every year since 1950s. Not a natural or border rivalry. This game exists due to Alabama v Tennessee annual matchup where neither party interested in disbanding rivalry)

I don't see why they wouldn't play auburn and bama every year......and it would be about time we got rid of the permanent east team

I don't care one bit about our "rivalry" games. All these other teams have other teams they hate more than us. We're not the #1 rival of Auburn, Bama or Florida. We're just another SEC team to them.

So it's no big deal to lose an annual game with them, as far as I'm concerned.

I welcome new rivalries with A&M and Oklahoma.

I could care less about playing those teams. They're "rivals" but if we added Texas and aTm they would be "rivals" as well.

WIth the expansion of one additional western sec team such as OU, the Florida rivalry is over.

LSU plays both of the Miss. schools, Arkansas, and OU. Rotate just 2 of the remaining eastern schools

Personally, I think that if Texas and Texas A&M are added, shifting Alabama and Auburn to the East, the old scheduling format needs to be brought back. That included two permanent opponents from the other division, with a rotation through the rest of the other division. It would be the only way to preserve old rivalries, with shift being involved to get the major Texas schools in the SEC.

The Auburn and Florida rivalries are both less than twenty years old. The only one of any significance is Alabama, because we've played them every year since before the dawn of time. But there's no reason why they couldn't be an annual opponent from another division.

I agree with this. Less OOC games means a better product on the field for the fans.

Don't have a problem with not playing those teams every year. I actually hate the Alabama series now with all the Saban crap regardless of who wins or loses.

Bama, Florida and Auburn have never respected LSU as a rival. Texas, A&M and Oklahoma would be great divisional games to pic up.

Funny about this rivalry--it exists specifically because LSU, Florida, and Kentucky were the three schools on the outskirts of the SEC when the conference went to a standard six games. Each school had five permanent rivals and one rotating game, and LSU/UF/UK only had so many SEC rivals they played every year, so they decided to play each other, and they did until the 2002 rotation took effect (LSU/UK ended).

Alabama - AU TN MSU VU LSU
Auburn - AL GA FL MSU TN
Florida - GA AU MSU KY LSU
Georgia - AU FL KY OM VU
Kentucky - TN VU GA FL LSU
Louisiana State - MSU OM AL KY FL
Mississippi - MSU LSU VU TN GA
Mississippi State - OM AL LSU AU FL
Tennessee - VU KY AL AU OM
Vanderbilt - TN KY OM AL GA

The three most isolated schools always played each other--it's because they really had no choice.
