So Dunga's record as Brazil's coach is 40-5-6...

and that isn't good enough for Brazilian fans because they don't play with the flair they used to?
Unbe-fricking-lievable...

Dunga was labeled a fool in 2007 at the Copa America and Brazil couldn't wait to get rid of him. And I remember thinking I hope this fool stays on to coach them.
His results can't be argued with.

There are plenty of people on here who will have you believe that the way you play is more important than the result.

I generally think you're a moron, but I agree. It's mostly people who are fans of Hispanic teams, though. For some reason, they'd rather have 75% possession and a couple of nice passes than a win.

Dunga i feel has brought Brasil a more organized approach to the game compared to what you see in 2006. The colourful flair I feel may have been lost but make no mistake, they play more beautifully than many other teams out there.
It's funny coming to this country and people attack having possession and fluidity as a weakness whereas when i am back home in Spain you never hear people talk about possession being a "negative". Different cultures no?

Having possession isn't a negative at all, but people in your country especially overvalue possession.

I think when done right it is very fantastic, but teams unsuited for it make it stupid. Espanyol trying to play possession is terrible.

Possession is a good thing when it's positive, but if you're just holding the ball around the defensive third and not doing much with it, then it's pointless. A counterattack style works really well, as Jose Mourinho has shown.

Of course...

What possession teams do this? If they are in a situation where this occurs, either they are killing a game, or are getting beat pretty badly. Even in games where their is a superior defense, a la Inter Milan vs Barca, it was as if Barca wasn't ever probing. The best defense against those offenses is to cut off options for the final ball, which is what Inter did exceedingly well. The fact that Inter isn't as defensive as people claim makes their discipline all the more impressive.

The only point I'm trying to make is, some people value possession over goals. Having 75% possession is fine, but if you don't score you don't win.

The complaint I've usually seen (on this board) is people would rather us have someone like Torres in who can be effective in possession because it leads to far more opportunities offensively. I don't think anyone wants us to play like Mexico.

That's not the same. I think Jose Torres is vital to our team because we don't have a wealth of players who are gifted in recycling possession. Torres is a lot more offensive minded than Clark, I think against Slovenia and Algeria, Torres should be in the team.

So you wouldn't start him for England? I just think that we have a better chance to win if we're more offensive minded. I fear this could be like Italy at the Confederations Cup last year.

Well it has to do with Brazil's history, i.e. Samba style. I think Dunga has fashioned a more dangerous team, which has the ability to control possession, and beat you on the counter.
As this gif illustrates, Dunga's Brazil isn't as defensive as critics claim, just more disciplined.
When they go to the three man backline, they'll be pretty much unstoppable.

Depends on what Bob wants to do. If Bob wants us to attack all game, then you start him. If Bob wants us to sit back and counter, I'd start Edu.

Is that Marquis Daniels whose head is on the hawk from the "Haters Gonna Hate" pic, and if so, why?

Haven't read the other posts, but I can say as a long time fan of Brazil and an neutral observer of their matches; they are not nearly as fun and exciting to watch under his guidance.
Part of that is the exclusion of more samba, futsal stars who provide that flair and overly creative moments on the pitch.
