For those of you who want Texas

You do realize this can only hurt LSU. A lot of kids from Texas come to LSU just because they want to play SEC ball. Now they will be able to play in Austin and play in the SEC. It would be very very interesting if UT and TAM came to the SEC but I personally don't want to see it happen.

I didn't realize LSU was the whole conference.

Texas can't have everyone. We will always get Texas's leftovers. We will be alright.

y'all already have the an entire state all to yourselves, you'll be fine.

We aren't getting Texas. They don't want to join.

Any idea how much D-1 talent is in Texas? UT playing in the SEC can only help LSU's recruiting in that state.

You don't follow recruiting much do you?

It's not going to happen IMO, but Texas joining the SEC would have very little impact on our recruiting - we get who we want anyway. You might see a couple more Louisiana / southeast kids in burnt orange than usual.
LSU on the other hand would benefit greatly IMO. See Arkansas for exhibit A. They used to cherry pick East Texas like crazy in the SWC. Playing in a state in front of Houston recruits, etc. is never a bad thing especially if you are whipping up on aTm in front of them.
I'll add that LSU has to be careful though, much like Texas. Both schools can live fine off in-state talent so you don't want to alienate the local HS coaches. I'm convinced Texas doesn't offer a lot of great out-of- state athletes for this very reason... probably similar story at LSU.

FWIW, I think the opposite is true. Texas joining the SEC would probably help LSU gain on Texas in recruiting. But others disagree...

yea this wouldn't hurt shite.
the team hurt by texas join the sec would be bama. they would lose their power once the sec office moved.

Its a better fit for Texas than going to the Pac -10.

They're really going to have to rename that conference again.
It used to be called the "Athletic Association of Western Universities" (AAWU) from 1959 to 1978, fwiw. Before that it was the PCC.

FAIL!!!!!!!!!!
ANYWAY Texas is the whole key to this. If I am them HELL with the pac-10 We can keep OKLA, And OKIE ST., And a ton of other Big 12 teams and add some Utah, Boise, and even a BYU and have a conference that would RIVAL anything the pac-10 does. YES!! TEXAS has THAT power.
