At least they got closer to the CWS than they ever did before. :(
Hey, if Tulane joins, my 'Dores will finally have a team to beat every year in football! :)

The Lib-16

All I know is that several players, JUCO notably, have been able to attend OU and OSU when they couldn't not make the academic cut at LSU. Phil Loadholt for example.

good lord that's pathetic.

Texas is ranked 47th, tied with Florida. Texas A&M, the second highest academic school in the Big 12, is ranked 61st. Georgia, the third highest ranked school in the SEC, is ranked 58th. Vanderbilt is ranked 17th. At the top, the SEC is better academically than the Big 12 ever was.

US News rankings are great and all, but the graduation rates for most schools in the SEC are pretty awful.
y'all already have the an entire state all to yourselves, you'll be fine.

all this shite about being the best conference is overrated. let's just get some shitty teams in here so we have a better chance of winning

The reason why SEC schools are routinely in the NCG is because of SoS.

Texas, Texas A&M, Oklahoma, Clemson, Va tech, and Florida State are going to join the SEC. Holy schnikies who knows what the hell is going to happen!

don't forget Miami and GTech. We have heard that too.

If that were really true they wouldn't have been so content to be in the Big 12 pre-departure of Colorado and Nebraska. Texas is a great school academically but I just don't believe the academics is playing that large of a role in this when it's all said and done. They will talk about it, but I highly doubt that it's that important considering the Big 12's academic status being along the lines, maybe even worse overall than the SEC.

Well, I totally agree that academics isn't paying any play into the conference alignments.

I thought you were talking about the attitude of the school towards academics in general. As far as that goes, I'd say UTexas cares a lot more than almost all the SEC schools. In my experience, most SEC fans laugh at the very idea of going to school for an education.
Texas is a lot more concerned with academics than most of the SEC dude.

Texas A&M is a different story though.
Seriously the SEC is still going to be the best conference even if the PAC-10 goes to 16, so I'm not worried.
drop Vandy? Vandy is a charter member of the SEC and brings the graduation numbers of the conference way up.
if the Big 10 stays at 12 and the Pac-10 keeps to 12 or less, I don't think the SEC will expand.

If we start seeing the "super conferences" as big as 16, I think then the SEC will expand.

I'd only want teams who have fans that I could see as SEC fans.

So let's go with A&M and Clemson.

Of course, A&M ain't going without Texas and no way USC allows Clemson in. So it aint happening.
I agree, it has really nothing to do with "rich and famous" versus "working class", the stadium was empty all over.
Uh, I was in the student section, and maybe it looked different from your angle, but a bunch of students left at the end of the first quarter, and it was half empty by the half. That being said, the student section was the most dense section by the end (but only towards the front rows).
