I still compare it to Mad Men. Some people think Mad Men is boring because "nothing happens."

Some people just like well acted and executed slice of life dramas. That isn't everybody's cup of tea. As well awarded as Mad Men is, for example, it's ratings are never very good. I am sure Treme's long term ratings will fall short of The Wire.

Just because it isn't packaged with action and big time dramatic events that make it eye candy for the masses, doesn't mean that only "liberals" or people that are forcing themselves can enjoy it.

I love Mad Men. That is an example of a character driven show done right. Treme would be the opposite.

I really like Mad Men and really don't like Treme. Mad Men is a bit slow, but it's eventually going to get to an interesting story arc. Plus Draper is a really good character and so are most of the supporting characters (the only significant character on Mad Men I don't really like is Peggy). Treme, on the other hand, is slow to reach either nothing or something I don't really give a shite about, and it only has one character that I like (I half like Goodman's character and I half like the Indian Chief).

Mad Men is my favorite show by a wide margin. Treme doesn't deserve to be mentioned in the same sentence as Mad Men.

Mad Men is often considered "boring" but actually them trying to "rev it up" last season caused for it to be too much like Desperate Housewives. It went from being a 10 to being a 7.5.
