Er...not sure how you take my post as being confrontational and yet your first post was HIGHLY confrontational.
I simply stated that I am conservative and the show doesn't bother me from a political standpoint.
I would agree that ALL of the characters are liberals but so far they aren't spouting a liberal agenda at me.
I agree that most people outside of New Orleans and Louisiana might be bored to tears by this, but once again, you are the one that was confrontational with your first post.

What an arse! Uses a forum topic to go off on "liberal art fricks" (I'm guessing his idea of a good movie is the Dukes of Hazzard remake) when all he has to do is change the channel and stop whining in public. arse. Hat.
You're on a Movie/TV online forum. Just thought you should know.

Whatever - you obviously missed the context of my post. I was referring to a blatantly unfair attack by Jim712 and the generalization that because I don't like Treme my idea of good entertainment would be "Dukes of Hazzard".

My biggest pet peeve to go with this criticism is the absence of Nagin. He HAS to be in this show ASAP. I don't care if he is in archive footage or just mentioned here and there in on camera debates. That "Chocolate City" only got one throw away line is crazy...
I agree.
And, using F'ing Jacques "What's a Tax Return?" Morial as the example of Good Government reform? Are you f'ing kidding me? They should do 3 shows on the complete corruption that is the Morial family. I'd also have a Dollar Bill Jefferson character where the whole family gets sent to jail.

Uh, your post was #1. I was talking about your original post.
I do agree that he Dukes of Hazzard comment was absurd as this show is simply not that good.
People on here always like to break out comments like that when you make any criticism of shows or movies they find to be intelligent works of art.
Public Enemy #1 would be the Arrested Development fans that get in a rabid frenzy unless you agree with them that AD is the greatest piece of comedy created throughout history.

Last two episodes ahve been the best so far. but I still don't understand how anyone outside of South Louisiana can watch this though.

I haven't seen Treme cause I don't have HBO & really I probably wouldn't watch it anyway. But are people here really forcing themselves to watch something they don't like just because it takes place in New Orleans?

I do think some people watch to see the city on the tube. I watch to see if an old friend of mine will get more lines.
I also think there are plenty of people watching because Simon started slow with The Wire and the expect the slow start of Treme to pick up like it did on The Wire.
The show is slow but I don't hate it. There are other shows I watch far less deserving of my time.

i stopped watching about a month ago and im not regretting the decision at all.

as for the New Orleans aspect- it just highlights attitudes of NO natives that I highly dislike. Location has little to do with why I force myself to watch the show each week.

Oh this should be good. What "attitudes of NO natives" might that be? And please fill me in on how it's only native to New Orleanians please. Don't just spout off useless shite.

I watch it for the visual aspects of NOLA, but mainly for the music, which has been the only A+ so far.

are you arguing that nola natives who suck off nola don't have their own little niche?

FWIW, Zhan's character is waaaaaay over the top. I grew up in that city and still go back just about every weekend and it's pretty hard to run into someone like his character. As for Goodman, he's slightly over the top but not by much. He pretty much nailed the Uptown, Tulane professor portrayal. However, keep in mind he's not a N.O. native.

Am I really suppose to take a native of Chuck Vegas seriously on something like this?

What?? are you nuts? i know at least 3 people that fit the mold. sure, it may have tapered off a bit the last few years, but right after Katrina people like Zahn's character were a dime a dozen

RiIIIIIght, I'm sure everyone you know from N.O. is just like Zahn's character. I've grown up in this city and still am deeply rooted in it today so I know I'm biased. However, his character is waaaaaaaaay overdone.

Glad this thread is back...love the show...long may it run....

I used to be a big Treme supporter but after reevaluating my opinion I think it is just good enough to entertain me for it's length. A decent show but certainly nothing special like Simon's other work
