Should I expect a meltdown in England on the 12th/13th if/when the USMNT pulls the upset?

I will be in London to watch the game and just wondering how the crowd will react to a loss.

Hmm, probably badly.

I figure they will have more of a calm, perma-jaded reaction like many of them seem to have.

"Yes, well, that was going to happen all along, whatinit? What, with all the media hype and star players together, it was bound to not go right for us -- as it usually does."

England fans expect this now, sort of like Cub fans. Much more rabid, but with the same jaded reactions that Leauxgan was talking about.

They will be livid, but it will be directed to the manager.

wrt what? your personal safety? you'll be fine. london is a third foreign, and my impression is that fan violence is extremely isolated nowadays anywhere in england.

i'm sure they'll be pretty down, though.

Or the players for clubs they don't like. Chelsea fans will blame Rooney, Liverpool fans will blame Lampard, etc.

Except for the goalkeepers. Everyone will blame them.

No, not for my safety. I was just wondering if I should be all in the bar I'm at or just play it cool and maybe buy a round of beers and say "good match"

What chance does everyone give the U.S. to win this match?

The Ameritard in me: 50%

The non-Ameritard: 20%

This will guarantee you a good time for the night. And to play off what Sheep said, if you can find out which club is not represented at all in your group, rag on those players and you are good to go.

I say wear the colors and take your lumps, regardless of outcome.

I have to catch a bus at 11:30pm to Cardiff. The game starts at 7:30, I believe, GMT. So the game should be over by 9:30. Then I have about 2 hours to drink...don't want to get too drunk and miss my bus, though.

Even if we can't agree on our chances against England, we can all agree that our national anthem is better. Hope we have more fans at the game.

England's the better team, but both teams would be stupid to assume a win.

It's not a stretch that the U.S. can beat England, not at all. Maybe I'm stupid, but I think this will be quite the evenly played match; especially if we press a bit using our speed on the outside to set up Donovan for inside runs and passes.

To a certain extent. I think the final score will be 2-1 England. It will be a great game.

Don't be an arse if we win (that is a big if too). I'm sure you wouldn't like some Brit harping all over you in the US if they just kicked our arse. Buy them a round of pints and just talk about the game and what not.
