I know this has been discussed before, but I'm bored and it's the offseason.

I think the majority of people already believe this to be true, but for the one's who don't, I'd like to hear the arguement against it. Also, if he isn't, what would it take for him to be? and if he is, what would it take for someone to surpass him?

Thomas Aquinas may give him a run for his money.

If he isn't the greatest in everyone's mind right now he should be after a few more seasons as a Saint. There are only 3 or 4 others you could even make a case for IMO.

I had Guido Merkens for #1, I might bump him for Drew.

Brees is the greatest Saint of all time.

In fact, I had him ranked there before we won the Super Bowl.

Yep. No Brainer. If he leads us to a second or third SB and breaks a few records along the way...I am prepared to nominate for sainthood and I aint a catholic...

Id say so since he plays QB.

But it could also come down to who you think is/was the best at their postion

Rickey Jackson(HOF)
Willie Roaf(Future HOF)
Morten Andersen(Future HOF)
Drew Brees(Probable Future HOF)

Why do you guys keep giving this guy so much credit? Because of his name? He didnt do a mother fricking thing. He is by far the most overrated player ever.

And if you have to ask if Drew is the greatest Saint ever then your fan card should be pulled. Lets see we spent 39 years not winning a damn thing then in 4 years this man comes in and breaks a shite load of records. Not only Saints records but NFL records and comes within 16 yards of breaking Marinos season passing record. He is on pace to hold every QB record by the time he retires and oh yeah he was the MVP QB who won us our first Super Bowl. But no hes not the greatest Saint ever.

Actually this is a much more interesting question if you eliminate Drew.

Who was the better Saint : Willie Roaf or Rickey Jackson?

I had always said Willie b/c he's a sure-fire first ballot HOFer, but now that Rickey is in and because he spent a greater percentage of his career in NOLA I think he might be ahead of Roaf for the first time in my mind.

So I'd say:

1. Jackson
2. Roaf
3. Andersen

Brees and Jahri Evans and now Tracey Porter are all going to jump into the conversation when they retire one day. If Pierre Thomas keeps on playing like he has been he'll pass Deuce as the greatest RB of all time. He only needs about 3 more very good seasons to do so.
