Suffixing your post with "Just sayin'" doesn't excuse an illogical thought.

I think there will be more of a sense of urgency if it was off the coast of Santa Barbara or Nantucket.

It's not an illogical thought. It's pretty much dead on accurate.

The Santa Barbara spill resulted in California limiting offshore drilling so harshly that boatloads of people lost there jobs....here in California there were enough opportunities for people to find other work. With fishing, shrimping and now drilling taking a hit, just what do you propose the people of Louisiana do. California is a liberal enviroment. Becareful what you wish for...just sayin.

It's illogical. Everyone wants this stopped.

The reason it's not yet stopped has nothing to do with the location of the spill.

The Santa Barbara spill went beyond just cleaning up that area. It spawned the modern environmental movement. Or accelerated it 100x anyway. "Earth Day" even came from that spill.
