One of the greatest Hawthornisms ever

I've kept quiet tonight so as to not upset Jim's posse, but I believe he has really out done himself.
Hanagriff just explained that the first base coach was yelling "two two two" on the relay and Jim said "so he was telling him to throw the ball home?". Hanagriff explained that saying two caused Hanover to look that way before throwing home. Jim replies "yeah but two can also mean throw the ball to the catcher"
Seriously, WTF? Someone defend this.

2 as in the catcher is #2 when numbering the positions
I guess I see what he means, but that's dumb...I mean no one yells 5 when throwing to 3rd base

Because 2 is the catchers position. But I agree its stupid. Nobody yells 2 for the catcher to the cutoff man

Yeah I know what he's getting at but it is still the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Does he think they say "five five five" when the throw needs to go to 3rd? Does he think "three three three" means throw to 1st?

Obviously "one one one" means throw the ball back to the pitcher. I can't believe I've been so wrong all this time. No wonder my team was bad. We were always throwing to the wrong bases.

You can't, without looking like a total idiot. But someone before too long is going to go into "ranter Convulsions" and tell us that because he bleeds P&G we should stop complaining, and be grateful he still is the voice of LSU. He just has very little knowledge of the way the game is played, much less the ability to see past the foul ball screen.

Just be happy he said the catcher was #2 today. Some days, he would most likely call him #22 or 11 or 4..depends on what he has been drinking.

Yeah that doesn't matter... Florida has 9 graduation ceremonies!!!! Chuck tried to explain to him that LSU had just as many where each college hands out the diploma. Then Hawthorne had to reiterate but Florida has 9 sit down ceremonies!!!
