If you think of how big the Gulf of Mexico is, that thing is huge. The "tail" looks like it is heading into the Gulfstream and around the tip of Florida.

nah, once it hits the white sandy beaches in Key West and perhaps even Miami. Then shite will start getting real with BP and the hammer will be thrown down on them.

I somehow doubt that. The politicians in Florida are similar to ours in that they just want any excuse to get Federal funds to flow through them.. It really depends on how their citizens and business leaders (tourism) organize and react.

News flash...It's already effecting tourism in the Pan Handle....I would imagine that some will book their beach trips in S. Florida (for those who can afford it)...

I agree with Mud...If it starts effecting S. Florida than the hammer will come down hard on B.P.....

Of coarse there's always Disney world

The kids are getting out of school around the country and family vacations to FL have been planned for 6 months in advance. FL is built on tourism. You lose the tax revenue coming in and we're talking about huge budget deficit to an already crippling economy in FL.

I general believe people in FL do not want drilling off their coast. Add in this disaster its pretty much a no. Add in oil on their coastlines shutting off prime tourist season and you have outrage.

If they are going to lose all those tourist dollars, maybe they should reconsider the drilling off their coast to help make that money back.

They've been well aware of the damage the oil companies have caused to Louisiana wetlands well before the oil spill. They know Louisiana is one of the poorest states in the nation and ranked last in nearly everything and have an abudance of oil rigs. I'm sure they are just itching now to get oil rigs a mile off their white sandy beaches
