be prepared to pay a lot...
I first lived in Foggy Bottom then Old Town...Old Town was much cheaper. Logan and Scott Circle were coming back when I left...not sure how much it continued though...but the area around Convention Center went from ghetto to nice quickly.
Look around Dupont too...very safe, but pricey. There is a lot of hot arse for the taking in G'town bars, which is a short walk to Foggy Bottom.
Glover Park is the hot new area where my friends now live, but no metro stop...just buses.
Woodley/Adams Morgan area is a bit cheaper than the areas mentioned above.

you at the Capital Hilton?
Add Brasserie Beck to your list for sure. Robert Weidemeier opened it as a downscale from Marcels which is also superb. Beck had all kinds of French and Belgium beers and a wonderful menu, check it out on live. I love my DC visits!!!
