Claiborne IS the real deal. He's an amazing athlete. Mark my words, he's going to be special.
Our third down DEs will be amazing in Montgomery and Mingo. We haven't had rushers like them in a while

Anyone know the total tackles their projected starters made last season?

So is Chris Davenport kind of going the track of Al Woods or what?
Posted on 5/17/10 at 9:01 pm to thunderbird1100
Nevis, Downs, Livingston, Brockers and Davenport should be a pretty decent lineup. It seems our D line got kicked around a bit last year, but I think we will have a better rotation this season.

I sure hope we see a much improved Levingston this year

I say yes if he doesn't switch to OG.

Kevin Mentor and Sheppard are going to be the 2 stud linebackers. The third could be one of many. Peterson and Claiborne at the corners and the safeties will rotate at first but Loston will start later in the season. Nevis should anchor the defensive line and the other spots will be like a revolving door.

PP and Claiborne will be almost unfair...
Claiborne is the truth..
We will lead the SEC in picks this year if we can generate a good pass rush from our D-line![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/Icongeauxtigers.png)

DE: Adams-Aghayere (rotating):Edwards, Montgomery, Mingo
DT:Nevis-Brockers (rotating)Downs, Levingston, Copeland(FR)
LB: Sheppard-Baker-Francois (rotating)Minter, Maclin(FR), ???
CB: Peterson-Claiborne (rotating) Taylor, Brooks
S: Taylor-Hatcher (rotating)Eugene, Loston
We are going to have to have some young guys step up at LB to rotate in. After the 3 starters, it's all Rs-freshman and Freshman on the roster. We have lots of young guys on scolly(9) so a couple of them are going to get a chance to play early... It could be any of the following: Minter, Maclin, Barrow, Jones, Johns, Welter, Muncie or Prater.
In the secondary we have some guys that can play safety or corner. If Clairborne locks up the other corner spot opposite Peterson, it will move Taylor to safety with Hatcher, Loston and Eugene battling for the other spot. If Clairborne can't lock down the starting corner spot and Taylor is needed there, the safeties will be Hatcher and Eugene/Loston.

If Loston can't lock down the starting spot over Jai then I'll be about as disappointed in a player as I've been recently.

Claiborne will be 1st string by himself easy. Taylor will stay at safety.
Word on the street is Chris Davenport is a big softie. I doubt we see much out of him in his time here at LSU.

quote:I don't think Jai has a starting spot. Taylor and Hatcher both started at safety last year and Hatcher came on strong at the end of the year when rotating in. I could see Loston coming in at safety when we go with 5 DB's and Taylor playing the dime back since he has some corner skills. I think that would get our 5 best guys on the field in passing situations...Peterson, Clairborne, Taylor, Hatcher and Loston.
