Well, in the Reds defense, even their fans hate them.

That methodology is so full of fail I can't even begin to contemplate it.

Whole thing is hazy. I would say for every person who detests the Yanks there is one who would suck A-Rod's dick, so it cancels out. I guess the Indians just don't have that. But I really don't know who "hates" the Indians...they are just not loved.

Where the hell are the Cubs on that list? There are a lot of people that absolute hate them with a passion.

The formula helps determine whether consumers have positive, negative or neutral reactions to brands in their online messages. Neilsen's "Sentiment Rankings" range from 5 to minus-5. No team finished with a negative number. But six teams finished with a number lower than 2.
So basically, no team is overall "hated", and more likely lower numbers were more attributable to "who the frick are they?" or "meh, I never think about them."

Yes.

Actually, higher numbers are likely from a team's own message board, ie "WE SUCK!"
People who talk the most negatively are likely the biggest fans because they are upset the team they love stinks. Just a completely worthless methodology.

Oh hell. "Internet" wasn't in the first story (it was in the WSJ story).
So they just googled and parsed messageboards and blogs. Pitiful.

I know they're hated by the fanbases of four different teams: Cardinals, White Sox, Brewers and Reds. Cubs fans aren't even close to being as unbearable as Red Sox nation but that might change soon if they win a World Series in the near future.

I don't hate the Cubs, fwiw.
I hate the Astros and the Braves.
I hate the Astros and the Braves.

Redszone seems to really hate the Cubs because so many of their fans take over Great American Ball Park every year. Marty Brennaman seems to hate them with a passion too.

That's on the Reds fans for not showing up to support their team. Don't like being outnumbered in your own park? Go to the fricking game.

That's a fact.

Even the blogger they quoted said it was because the team alienates its own fans. So there's your reason...the fans hate the team. Aside from Cleveland though, there's very little opinion I am sure.
