to come out in the last 20 years. Hard to choose between Tombstone, or Unforgiven. Two of the best ever, IMO.

Really??

As far as BEST Western Unforgiven blows Tombstone away. I would say that Tombstone was entertaining but there are other Westerns over the last twenty years that were better in my opinion...

Unforgiven

Dances With Wolves

3:10 To Yuma

Open Range

The Three Burials of Melquides Estrada

The Assasination of Jesse James

Wyatt Earp
Tombstone

I didn't much care for any of those movies except The Assassination of Jesse James (I haven't seen The Three Burials of Melquides Estrada)

I'd throw The Proposition into the discussion as well.

Great flick but more than 20 years old.

I really don't understand what people see in Tombstone. The absurd over the top acting wrecked it for me. May be a function of growing up with more conventional westerns but I hated Val Kilmers performance.

The Missing - with Tommy Lee Jones is an underrated movie

Unforgiven is the best in past 20 years

Whoops. Totally overlooked that part of the thread.

I watched a few others recently. Australia doesn't totally suck. It's not awesome, but it's good to pass the time.

Apaloosa was pretty good, as well.

You've gone and upset the movie board Tombstone gods with that statement.

But let me add...
I view Tombstone as a comedy. Outside of the witty dialog, it's nothing.

I like it too. But the past 20 years it probably is Unforgiven. maybe b/c it can also draw with hints from Clint's movies from 40 years ago.

Quigley Down Under is good movie.
