Disclaimer before I begin - I have very limited knowledge of NBA trades, the value of certain players, etc. But with the recent success of guards like Thornton and Collison, this seems reasonable to me.

Raptors get:
Chris Paul
David West
Emeka Okafor

Hornets get:
Chris Bosh
Andrea Bargnani

Yes, we'd be trading away the core of our team and the face of the franchise... but we'd get in return a formidable post presence and I feel that Collison has proven himself as a starter in the League.

What say you?

Isn't Bosh an UFA after this season?

just wait until offseason, man, lot of people will be available then, they could bring Chandler back, get Danny Granger, lots things, but trading away CP3 is not smart.

That is an awful trade...The Hornets would lose arguably their top three starters and the best PG in the league in return for Bosh and an unproven center?

i don't think bargnani is "unproven" now

i think the hornets could make this deal for just cp3 and west, then sign/trade bosh and bargnani

bosh/okafor/bagnani in the front court is a good mix of offense and so-so defense

collison
thornton
(draft pick)
batgnani/okafor
bosh/okafor

not the worst 6-man rotation

if the hornets could then deal peja and mopete for a wing, we could have a formidable lineup

Lulz x 10000000 to this trade.

It's pretty damn bad for the hornets. They give up the best player in this deal, maybe the best PG ever. They give up a 2 time AllStar with a great contract that decreases in value, and a Center that has a bad contract, but is very competent.

For Bosh, whom is very good but will get a max, and Dirk-lite

horrid.

unless the hornets FO wants to assume a lot of salary this next year by dealing peja/mopete, there isn't much ability to build

he's won as many titles as paul

a lot of people overrate Collison's value, the potential is there, but the kid is still very raw, compared to CP3 he is no contest.

The hornets just need to sit tight and build around cp3 for like the next 3 years and then as long as they dont frick things up we should be legit contenders for a couple years. Best chance at a championship.

are we going to miss the playoffs every year to get 2 more lotto picks after this year? is that the plan?

you say stuff like this often, but things happen in the NBA all the time. Trading Paul is a last ditch effort.

If we sit tight and build for 3 years CP3 will be gone via free agency then we gained nothing...

he turns over the ball too much and has a habit of ballhogging and taking bad shots near the end of shot clocks/in clutch situations.
