It appears that 4* OT recruit Matt James from Cincinnati died this evening in a fall off of a hotel balcony in Panama City, FL. While his name hasn't been released by the press there seems to be enough information from people in Ohio that knew him to confirm his death.

By all accounts he was a great kid and a terrific football player. RIP, Matt James.

Damn, I had followed this guy's recruitment a little bit, too. That's a real shame. RIP.

Not even kidding, before I opened the thread, I had this weird feeling it would be Matt James. I followed his recruitment closely, as it basically came down to ND and OSU. Sad. RIP and prayers to his family.

Matt James was a fine young man.

He was a teammate and classmate of my son.

We are friends of the family & have known Matt for years.

RIP #78.

Prayers to Jerry & Peggy, his parents.

Folks please watch what you say & write. They are friends of my family that are greiving. Back-off the smart arse remarks & judgements. A young life is lost and parents are devastated.

Sad but 'that shite does happen,' part of reality. The grim reaper almost made a visit when he was at LSU one summer while at his summer home in GA. This can happen to any team, player at anytime. Sorry, for the kids family and friends but it is just part of life. More, to come later, the question is just 'who and where at'?
