Just started watching it on HBO. I saw last weeks episode(guessing it's episode 1 of season 2) and a few minutes of tonight's.
Can someone give me a quick rundown on the premise of the show. I'm completely lost right now, all I know is that it's about vampires. Need to know the good guys/bad guys and are Vampires out in the open? or are they still a myth and only a few people know about them etc.?
and should I watch Season 1, or do I need to before proceeding with the rest of Season 2?

its about a world with vampires and humans set in a small louisiana town. and yes, vampires are in the open. id watch season 1 before continuing to watch season 2.

Well, if you had watched season one, you wouldn't be asking so many questions. Basically, Vampires have come out of the shadows because they can now live on synthetic blood. Some really want to mainstream and live a regular life. Some don't.

small town in N. La.
People on here always get bent out of shape about the geography.
In season 1 a bunch of people are killed in Bon Temps and the season is basically spent trying to figure out who the killer is. Like someone said the vampires are out because of TruBlood which is synthetic (even has different blood types) although many vampires still feed. Vampires are pushing for rights as well.
You really should watch season 1...after the pilot episode the actors get somewhat better. For some fricking reason unbeknownst to me it is one of my favorite shows....the acting is terrible, the story has about a million holes in it, and its corny as frick...but I keep eagerly anticipating the next episode

There are an infinite amount of websites and boards that summarize stuff like this...just saying.
I do enjoy the show though. Watch from the beginning.

You should watch season 1 because it was good and season 2 wasn't.
I'll give it another shot once the next season starts but I've been told it will get a lot more "twilight like" whatever that means.

so are you saying I shouldn't post something like this on the movie tv/board on Tiger droppings? Because this happens to be the only website I really frequent, so I really don't know what the frick you are saying?

why do people insist on trying to hop into shows after its been started?
Just go rent the first seasons...
Or if thats too hard then try ninjavideo.net

I just got HBO 2 weeks ago and coincidentally they started playing season 2 at the same time. And I wouldn't call it "insisting"

Check On Demand and see if Season 1 is on there.

The biggest problem with season 2 is...it's not in the books. They ventured WAAAAAAAAAY away from the books with Mary Ann. The 2nd book spent the entire time in Dallas and Fellowship of the Sun and Jason wasn't a member either. They tried to change too much. There will be some cool parts to Season 3 if they do indeed stay close to the book, but also some lulls. We should see Weres come into the fold this season.
As far as being like Twilight, it's not even close. It's about to get much better as long as they don't try to frick with the material too much. For example, there is talk of Bill and Eric going gay for one another. NONE of that is in the books.

Will the vamps start to twinkle in the sunshine instead of bursting into flames? If so, I'm done.
