Fishing Advice for Atchafalaya Basin (Butte La Rose)
Posted by lsunewcastle on 1/14/12 at 3:29 pm
Moved to Lafayette recently and I am going fishing for the second time in the Basin tomorrow. I'm putting in between the interstate in Butte La Rose. Any advice on where to catch bass or sac a lait?
I went a few months ago and ran south from the landing. Caught a few small bass and a bunch of stupid Choupic.
Any advice from locals on where the fish are biting around there? Which way to run and what to throw?

I would give it one star. Thought it sucked pretty bad.

It's not illegal to kill dolphins.
In America, it is. Since 1972. It's called the Marine Mammal Protection Act. Learn to read.
quote:
As far as the mercury poisoning, the cause is the industrial waste that is dumped into the waters. BUT NO ONE IS DOING A DOCUMENTARY ON THAT ARE THEY?
They stated in the documentary that the dolphins there have more mercury in them than normal levels found in dolphins, and showed footage of the dumpings in Japan. So it was documented on film. However, since the mercury is not killing the dolphins, but rather disfiguring people who eat unknowingly Japanese mercury-poisoned dolphins , they focused on that. However, if you ever do go to Japan, you should videotape yourself eating that Dolphin Buffet and show that to your one-eyed daughter one day.
quote:
Nope...dolphins are cute, so I could get an oscar if I get people to cry about them. This world is f'ed....we'd rather cry about whales and dolphins than solve any real problems.
You are so transparent. You're problem is that you attach political labels and let them ruin your movies. Anytime something looks like "Save the Trees" or "Save The Whales" you completely dismiss the movie as liberal nut-job PETA-lovin' propaganda even though the subject has legit objectionable merit. OH NOES! GREENPEACE WAS IN THE MOVIE. IT MUST BE A SUBJECT I HAVE TO DISMISS. Learn to think for yourself, buddy. I'm a conservative, too. I just don't let conservative or liberal propaganda think for me or ruin my movies. Good God, you probably hated that revolutionary special effects movie Avatar with that "shock & awe" comment, huh? I'm sure you missed "that Clooney movie", too cuz he's a liberal activist, even though there wasn't an ounce of politics in it.
quote:
People in Europe eat a lot of horse. Are they not civilized?
Sure, they eat horses legally in France. But they don't eat horses in the USA or the UK legally. Who's side are you on, traitor? And do you eat horse?
quote:
Also, laws can't make something "Taboo" only hippies can.
Jesus, did you really use the "hippie" term? Really? Who still uses that?. Do you still call any Russian "Commies"? I better not buy a Volvo or you'll call me "yuppie". And yes, laws do follow social prohibitions or "taboos", and sometimes precedes them. Incest, for example, was ok for Adam and Eve and their offspring, then became outlawed by Abraham & Moses before it became socially "taboo". Centuries later, we follow those same laws.
Yet somehow, your Mom and Dad/uncle must have missed the memo.
quote:
Food, Inc. is 1000 times better than The Cove. Food, Inc. uses facts (not emotions) to get its point across. It's message isn't "Don't eat _______"; instead it's "Be smarter about what you buy and what you put into your body."
Be smarter when you go to Japan and eat that dolphin buffet. You may not want to put that mercury filled filet in your body or you'll have deformed children. Aw, hell: JUST DON'T EAT DOLPHIN!
Dude, if you really got defensive over the possibilty that "Hollywood" may influence people in power who could theoretically take away another liberty (ie: option to eat dolphins in Japan), you have serious problems.
booya. End of Thread.

I didn't like it. I thought the plot was difficult to follow and the ending was unsatisfying. It was also darker than I expected; meaning the whole movie was depressing and disturbing at times, with no real theme or story emerging.

I haven't seen many zombie apoc/virus movies, but I THOROUGHLY enjoyed this movie. The only thing I thought that could be changed to make it better would be the ending. The whole intense story and nihilistic world that was constructed, and the whole fate of the world being unknown to the characters as well as the audience, IMO, was hurt by the ending where they are given some hope for humanity. I thought the movie would've been better had they left the unknown ending and what happens up to each person individually.
28 Weeks Later wasn't as good. Maybe edgy isn't the right word, but I didn't think it was as 'edgy' as Days. It just seemed a little more 'vanilla' and 'soft' compared to Days. I enjoyed the framework for the story though. I liked the whole military controlled existence scenario, and if outbreak occurs, immediately contain it and if not then all must be destroyed. To me, that whole idea is intriguing to think about. However, I did enjoy the ending of Weeks MUCH, MUCH more.
Possibly setting up a 3rd installment? I can only hope.
I would recommend them to watch. They were fun to watch and fairly scary. As a matter of fact, Im going to pop 28 Days Later in my DVD player right now.
I pretty much agree with this completely.
When I saw 28 Days Later at the movie in high school, most of the people I saw it with hated it. I thought (and still think) it was one of the scariest movies I've ever seen. You never feel comfortable watching the movie at all, even when they are camping in the fields.
I liked 28 Weeks later, but for completely different reasons that 28 days later. It was more of a District 9 type political-horror movie.

I'm fine with alternate realities... yes, it's possible that people evolved without being able to tell lies... but this movie was logically inconsistent within its own premise, and that disqualified it for me.
Gervais's vision of a society that can not tell lies also apparently meant that nobody could be mistaken. For example, when Ricky told the bank teller he had $800 in his account and her computer told her otherwise, even in a lie-less society there is a great possibility he could have simply been mistaken. If people can't even make mental mistakes I had to wonder how Napoleon's wars had ever occurred. Surely both sides would have just accepted whatever the other side said they were entitled to?
Also, Ricky's apparent message is that religion would never have occurred on the planet if the first religionist hadn't invented a lie. I don't think that makes much sense evolutionarily... surely an ancient person seeing lightning bolts from the sky might have thought there was a powerful being up there. You don't have to lie to believe so.
It also bugged me that Ricky, a lying thief, is the hero of this movie and we're supposed to sympathize with him???? What's the message here?
All of that would have been OK if there were some laughs. But there weren't.
This. Terrible movie

I was very disappointed in this movie. The plot was hard to follow. The ending sucked. Several parts of the movie didn't make sense or were confusing.
Lol and old people walked out because it was disturbing. I like dark movies though. This one just sucked.

Saw this movie tonight. The more I think about it, the more I like it. I didn't see the "twist" coming, I just thought it was the Dr. trying to convince him that he was crazy. Now it makes sense.
As others have said, he was definitely finally cured and chose to get the lobotomy.
The fact that so many people are debating/talking about the meaning of the movie (to me) is the mark of a great film. I feel the same way about I Am Legend.
ETA: typo

Kinda like on the OT when dudes rate someone like Rachel McAdams or Anne Hathaway a 6 just to make themselves look badass.
If you say The Hangover was not hilarious, you are retarded. Goes for all of you.

This is a great example of people's hatred of Obama trumping a good idea.
The same people who have screamed for a college football playoff for years now scream for Obama to keep his hands off of college football because he supports a college football playoff.
You don't have to disagree with everything he supports just so the neoconservative TD crowd thinks you are cool.
Not to mention Obama has nothing to do with a college football playoff. With the exception of signing a bill that congress might pass.
