Well a normal person (simpleton refers to intellect, not financial means BTW) would not have already been punished by losing tens of millions of dollars. I'm sure his career losses will have more punitive and future behavior shaping effects than anything the legal system can throw at him.

good, we already have overcrowded prisons. we don't need to put a guy in there that had an unloaded gun in jail too just to make an example of him. if he had a gun at a party or something give him some time, but in the locker room not during a game to me would be like if i had friends over or was at a friend's house with an unloaded gun

Come on now. He was charged with "carrying a pistol in the District of Columbia without a license. " That's a far cry from murder.
