Catholic pitcher/outfielder Alex Facundus is another Tulane commitment. Junior Aaron Nola, who beat Rummel on Monday, is an LSU commitment. He is the brother of Tigers’ shortstop Austin Nola, also of Catholic High.

I've heard Aaron Nola is going to be a stud pitcher.
He has been clocked at 91 as a high school junior. Has long arms and a similar style as Matty Ott.

What about LHP from Catholic Dylan Gregoire
Got anything on him?
This could be best chance for state title, they are loaded this year.
Two years ago they were the best and couldn't pull it out - Ryan Lewis, Austin Nola, etc.

I can ask about it. It is funny to hear his name mentioned because my brother grew up playing baseball with him when they were younger.

Dylan Gregoire shot up since his freshman year, he was only about 5'8 140.
If your asking if he's talented enough to get a scholarship offer at LSU I wouldn't go that far, but he would do great great things at a smaller school where they could focus around him as a pitcher. When you don't have overpowering stuff you have to be able to locate and mix pitches and he's doing that to a T right now.

I've heard Catholic is loaded and has 3-4 guys that throw in the 88-91 range, including Nola. Anyone know anything about the other guys or did I just get wrong information?

You hear this from somebody assoicated with Catholic High School? I've learned not to take ANY information that comes from a family or school related party. In all respect to these people they ultimately want to see their son succeed, but their kid was probably not hitting 92mph the other day and neither did he hit that homerun 450 feet. Highschool stories tend to be exaggerated to say the least. Scouts are even trained now to not take a head coaches word without seeing the material physically.

I've been to several games and am not biased by having family on the team. If you look at 5-A Top Ten in paper today, Catholic has beaten about seven of those teams. I don't think they've played Dutchtown or Barbe yet. Barbe lost their stud SS (LSU commit) to an ACL injury last week or so.
CHS has a 4-man pitching rotation:
Aaron Nola (Jr.) - LSU commitment
Alex Massey (Jr.) - Tulane commitment
Dylan Gregoire (Sr.) - No offers, but is a lefty with wicked breaking balls/not much speed but great control. If he continues to have a great year, I would expect offers to come from "state" schools.
Jacob Knox (Jr.) - junior, having a great year.
Ashford (Sr.) - 6'5" or 6'6" lefty reliever throws over 90 mph but has always had control problems. In spite of this, I hear LSU-E is interested.
Maybe the best player on the team is Chris Sciambre (Jr.), who is team's best batter and has great speed (center fielder). Tulane is interested in him. LSU should take a hard look.
CHS hosts Denham Springs at 12:30 tomorrow. Should be a great game. DS beat Barbe earlier this week. I expect Nola to take the mound for Catholic.

Catholic's coach told me that Nola is indeed starting tomorrow against Denham. He pitched Monday against Rummel and has had four full days to rest his arm.
Should be a fantastic game.

nola is a much better pitching prospect than ott was. and ott was pretty damn good. this kid has mowed down some impressive squads already this year. curious to see how he'll do against denham. he is more in the 88-89 area, but can top out at 91-92. real strong arm. he'll be looked at to be a starting pitcher at LSU early in his career.

much better?? how and why is he "much better"??

Not from anyone associated with Catholic, but from another 5A program. They aren't in the same district so he may have been just repeating what he heard.

You speak the truth.. Nola was "up to 87" last summer. Few can estimate velocity accurately unless you have a radar gun in your hand alot.. usually most estimate too high- based on how it sounds in catchers mitt etc.. usually if I hear "mid 80's" it is 80-82,, high 80's-- 84-86.
Up to velocity, as opposed to where the majority of the fastballs are two different things.. I would not be surprised if Nola was pitching high 80's to 90 by the time he is as LSU. He has a good pitchers build.
