Supposedly, Bert Jones could stand on the playing field and throw a football OUT of TS, i.e., over the top.
Does anyone know if this is fact or fiction?

I'm betting fiction, but he was a legend

It doesn’t sound too unbelievable…. I’ve done that a few times. He could probably do it easily.

I heard the same thing except that after he threw the ball he would run through the tunnel and catch it on the other side... just what i was told.

Bert Jones was good at dropping back 5 yards and falling down.
JK...that was just some joke a fomer LSU dlineman who player same years as Bert told me. Said he never would have thought that he would go pro. Course our offense was run-run-pass out of i-formation.

Sports Illustrated article that came out while Jones was in Baltimore claimed he was "the best danged rock thrower in Lincoln County."

That's nothing. Chuck Norris can jump over Tiger Stadium!

I heard him say on a radio interview, that back in his day he could throw from one end zone to the other.

I heard that Wick could stand on the 20 and throw it through the goalpost at the other end of the field.

Jones was from Lincoln Parish, not a county.
