1. He can recruit, no question.
2. His players lack fundamental baseball skills and suck. We got swept by Central Michigan 3-0 at home.
3. The real success behind LSU baseball wasn't Rooney, it was Coach M.
4. If Rooney doesn't get it together soon, he will be canned in a year or so.

Ya think? This statement makes me think you once thought differently.

Rooney is a good coach.

If he doesn't succeed at UCF, it probably says more about UCF than it does about Rooney.

Would be good timing for us to take him back. I expect Grewe to get a good HC gig in the next year or so, so it may work out well for us.

would be a stupid move. UCF isn't in the league of a LSU. It will take awhile to build the program, you can't expect immediate results.

Rooney landed us the #4 recruiting class in the country and a top 10 class by consensus. His players are the worst, most undisciplined group I have ever witnessed. No skills, nothing. Smoke smokes Rooney and would have been a better fit than the product I am seeing. It is terrible.
Look at the teams we lost to:

Grewe was a HC and left to be an AC Coach. Unless Texas decides on a new HC, or USC... Grewe wont get paid the money to leave LSU. He getting more now as an AC than 90% HC is college baseball.

I doubt that's true.

I think there is a good chance he takes a head coaching job somewhere.

I'm just saying... the only schools who pay well for head coaches in college baseball are your premier programs. They don't normally have coaching changes unless they retire. I'm not saying he won't find one. I'm just saying the odds aren't that well because a lot of schools don't donate as much money to baseball. Think about it. UCLA is a major school. We have more people go to 1 SEC game than they see the whole year on their home turf. So we pay more because we got more to spend.

I understand, but if your goal is to be a HC at a premier university, you have to be a HC and be successful somewhere. A HC at Mich State is a no-win situation. A HC at Okie St, Virg Tech, Duke, etc. are good situations. I think Grewe will have his chances and make a move for a job that is a good fit. No doubt he has one of the top asst jobs in the country and can be patient and pick his spot.

It is probably not a fun time to be a Knight right now.

Still, there are worse things than getting swept by CMU in March.
