99.9% of people who spout off on here aren't in practices to know what actually happens.
Coaches may feel he's a little too frail to do much from a backfield set and would have fumble and injury problems. RS is built like a WR to me.
It could turn out worse, like he can't run routes, to frail to run and block in backfield and can't throw at SEC level.
It wouldn't be the first time a great HS athlete entered the SEC and didn't pan out.
I sure hope not, but it's possible.

Not a smart move IMO. He's just not a natural WR. He's never played it before and it will take such a long time to learn on the SEC level. He NEEDS to get 8-10 snaps a game at QB, take some hits off of Jefferson. Then give him some "Trindon Holliday" snaps on offense outside of that. On top of that hee SHOULD be our KR/PR as long as he learns to securely catch those balls.

I hate that we didn't run more zone read, with either JJ or Shep at QB. they looked good when they ran it.
I rememeber us running it on consecutive plays against UGA. Once RS kept it for a big gain and next handed off to TH for a decent gain. Then it seemed to have disappeared. I thought we should have continued to run it on that drive until they stopped it. I thought we would at least see it more during the season, but don't recall seeing it, especially not with RS.

all that matters is play in games

if we can't, at the LEAST, use him like UF uses their 170 lb RBs, then miles and his staff are horrible

if he's that elite of an athlete, this shouldn't take too long
playing WR in college isn't hard

"We'll eventually get to 'Wildcat' some time during this spring," he said. "I don't know to what extent we'll run it and how big a piece it will be, but we'll have a look at it. There'll be some of those experiments."
that does not sound like a coach that will give much of a look to the WC
It's going to be a small part of our offense. Are you suggesting it should be more?
I think you are missing the boat if you are focusing on our use of the Wildcat as a major contributing factor in the problems we had last year and will face this year.
In my opinion, you ought to be more focused on what is being done along the offensive line from a scheme and personnel standpoint.

#1 - the guy is not a natural, will take some time
#2 - we just pissed away that "time" with the non-redshirt year, which was idiotic
#3 - to get the ball 8-10 times, you need to actually hand it off to him, even the elite SEC receivers don't get it 8-10 times. Make it easy for the guy.
#4 - we hardly run 45 plays a game, he needs to get those touches at RB, FOR SURE touches.

we needed it DESPERATELY last year
we couldn't run for shite traditionally

He is also a bright enough kid to grad in less than 4 yrs from HS and the staff still couldn't effectively use him
You are either not paying attention, or not being honest.
#1, he practiced all of the spring and the majority of the fall...as a true freshman.
#2, There was nobody on the offense was was effectively used in the running game last year due to the offensive line. We could have played Shepard 100% of the time last year and we wouldn't have been any more effective.
I know you are trying to throw darts at Miles, but to be honest, your arguments have been pretty weak.

and due to uncreative playcalling
if your traditional running doesn't work, try something else
and "something else" doesnt mean run JJ on an option so that when he gets hit, he goes to shite for 2 quarters

exactly. There were very serious, very fundamental issues with our OL last year. The wildcat wasn't going to solve that problem.
The criticism on Miles and Crowton should be focused on the OL. It is the OL that has caused the offense to regress to the point it did.

Again, you are focusing on 10% of the problem, rather than 90%. You are missing the boat.

yes it would have
our OL was small and weak, but it was athletic
why try north-sout when east-west suited our OL better?
use our speed. trindon and shep were born to run the wildcat and/or stretch the field east-west

this is true
but the coaching staff could have been proactive and creative dealing with their major issue. they didn't

He wanted to play qb, struggled at it, has shown glimpses of greatness running the ball, but also an inability to hang onto the ball, can't get the plays figured out.

You are oversimplifying the issues.

I agree that the personnel from a skill position standpoint was capable. But, the issue was the OL. And, there was nobody on the team that was going to run the ball effectively last year.
I get the feeling that you are suggesting that we should have run teh Wildcat as a major part of our offense.

If you got problems in practice, it'll be magnified 10X in the game. RS was bewildered on quite a few occasions.

This is our best shot with him I think. But t's been way too predictable. It's like a telecast he's getting the ball when he comes in because he's hardly ever on field otherwise. BG to work with him on some plays, but also on some away from the ball stuff, participating in plays when he isn't featured. Maybe some decoy and block, reverses, and just plain get in somebody's way when not carrying. I've seen Harvin throw quite a few good blocks.

Well, who knows what the frick Miles has planned, but Billy G's official title is "passing game coordinator." That probably doesn't mean shite though.
Sandwich says BG is going to get WR's and QB on the same page. He says expect big changes.
