Please recruit an unusually large number of defensive tackles in this recruiting class.
1. Our best seasons have been seasons when we had the best defensive lineman.
2. Getting run on right through the middle is the epitomy of getting b%#$@ed slapped in football; eerily similar to allowing a lay-up in basketball. Given 7 points are 7 points and 2 points are 2 points; but their is slight nobility in making the other team excecute a precision pass play/ similarly one can keep their cahones if beaten with the deep ball in hoops.
3. We have recently signed a plethera of excellent DE prospects in the last two recruiting classes (brockers, clement, edwards); hence, shoring up the middle ensures the team's backbone.
4. I miss watching teams start the game on their 20 yard line and watching them go backwards via the pocket collasping by booger mcfarland, chad lavalais, kyle williams, claude wroten, glen dorsey types
5. If they do not pan out they can still be excellent guards on offense; perhaps, even tackles if unusually tall.
6. Our state has a ton of them as opposed to the number there is 9 out of every 10 years.
7. We could miss out on our state's top producing wide recievers and defensive backs and still excel with

SIGN
Anthony Johnson (DT) 6'4", 312, O.P. Walker. Chuck Hunter (DT) 6'1", 280, West Monroe
Mickey Johnson (DT) 6'1", 307 St. Pauls
Quintin Thomas (DE) 6'2", 270, Breaux Bridge
Malcolm Pichon (DT), 6’4”, 355, Salmen

I feel somewhat similar about offensive lineman. Take em. In regards to the two big boys from St Aug.- gamble on it. The Purple Knights restoration of their football program has led them into the game of recruiting. For years the other Catholic schools had to recruit for their perimiter to be competitive with St. Aug's. After being a cellar dwellar to Rummel and Co. (B.M., Jesuit ect.) they are getting proactive and have the capability of producing more talent than a W.M. or an Evangel
so why not build a BIG BRIDGE with their two
340 offensive lineman this year

SIGN
La’el Collins (OL) 6'4", 275, 4.8, Redemptorist
Greg Robinson (OL) 6'6", 290 Thibodaux.
Corey White (OL) 6'4", 300, Capital
Chet Hebert (OL) 6'3", 298, Shaw
Jonah Austin (OL) 6'5", 340, ST Aug.
Trai Turner (OL) 6'5", 340, ST Augustine

and possibly
Colby Crysel (OL) 6'3", 280, Dutchtown
Christian Dragna (C) 6'1", 285, Mandeville
Alvin Kelly (OL), 6'4", 375, Hahnville

We don't need that many OL. That is a waste and not good for our football team.

You can make an argument for 4 DTs, but probably 3.

Normally, a staff looks to sign the top 10 guys on their board or who they can get..I can see them taking 6 on Defense and 4 on offense..

If thats the case, if Robinson pulls trigger, then that could leave one more OLineman either in state or nationally.

On Defense, I think you can stay in state with Johnson,Johnson,Hunter,Thomas, Rasco, and either a instate or out of state DE to fill the 6th spot..If you cant, then Bates can fill the 6th spot and take the scholly for spring semester

Whats your thoughts Lynx?

Defensive tackles are the most coveted position other than qb. They are the most rare position other than qb.

I would argue they may be the most important position on a football team. You can win with average qb play and great defensive play. rarely do you win with great qb play and average defensive play. The backbone to a great defense is always the line. allow's lb's to run free, pressure's the qb to get rid of the ball quickly, therefore, c.b.'s do not have to cover as long.

Sign 4 d.t's this year. you only signed one last year and two the year before. is there two as good comeing out of this state as the four or five this year?

sign johnson, thomas, mickey, hunter, or whomever is the best four. You can never have to many dt's. it's what made miami great, cortez, jerome brown, r. maryland, sapp, it's what made lsu great. dorsey, lavalais, wroten, williams ect.

I dunno... I'm all for signing a gigantic class of DT's and OL's this year. We've been losing OL's by the bucketload the last few years, and the ones we have seem to be pretty ineffective.

I doubt I've EVER seen an OL as bad as this past year's Tiger OL, and that includes the Hallman years.

I love how we have loaded up on bigs. This year should be a really good one, too.

my sentiments exactly! I realize i put down too many big OL but they all have the measurables and i havnt seen them all play, ill let the experts do what they do.

Speaking of "measurables"; that's what i want. given one can't measure a man's heart; but he can measure two guys that have heart. T. Cody wasn't the most impressive football player last year; but having a fat-ask aggressive run plugger can certainly free up another player from having to stop the run and do something else needed to stop the twisted, yet successful, offenses that are making SEC scores look like the freaggin USFl. 48-35, 40-38 and so on; I miss old school 17-10 SEC smackdowns. We did keep Florida in check last year, but i miss the asthetic beauty of a dropback passer as opposed to trying to find the ball in all the little "wildcats".

I grew up in the 80's and had my father explain to me, at the Sugar Bowl, why Nebraska was kickin the ship outta us. Partly due to Nebraska being somewhat of a pioneer in regards to collegiate weightlifting programs and partly due to our state not having many big boys with names like Brock, Dombrowski, ect.

In regards to having a recruiting advantages,We DO have a top 5 position every year(except for the steady flow of BIGS) , given our coaches salaries and fascilities are comparable with anybody else's. The only teams that inherently best us are USC, Florida, Texas and arguably Georgia. (and maybe even Notre Dame despite their 'academic'standards- they just need the right guy and some Irish luck and that evil empire could get cranked up)

This year, i sure hope all these big boys can play big. If they do, I think the team could benefit a class having 5 DT's and 5 OT's.

BTW the Jarvis Landry film on here has me eating crow for dinner due to my favoritism towards size and speed in football.
