Colts radio guy "Saints are Superbowl Champs, but....

we have Peyton Manning." Said this as the final seconds ticked off the clock. Saw this on NFL Weekly Countdown on NFL network.
You lose the SB and its ok?

"But we have Peyton manning"
Yeh-it sounded pretty dumb. I'll take that exchange every year.

im pretty sure yall are taking it out of context. it something like saints are trying to become superbowl champs but fine we have peyton manning. it was right after we went up by seven. at the end of the game he siad congrats and we deserved it.

I agree.
I didn't hear it but it seems pretty clear that the context is something along the lines of "We may have lost this one but as long as we have Peyton, we'll always be in contention"

i never heard nothing of the sort. but i did hear the dude give the saints their props

What wasn't clear on the video was when he said it during the course of the game. If he said it while the game was still going on it would have made more sense.

I heard the radio guy say that just after the Saints went up by 7. He said something along the lines of, "Now the Colts need a TD to tie, but we've got Peyton Manning."
I haven't heard anything bad from any Colts fans regarding the outcome of the game. Colts fans at the game that I encountered were pretty gracious in defeat, giving the Saints props and telling the Saints fans congrats.

Yeh-I agree-everytime they showed a positive Saints play and then played both announcer's calls the Colts guy was complimentary.

Damn, I don't know who it is, but some people don't listen very well.
1 person says it was said after we went up 7, and another says it was as the final seconds ticked off.
Some say he said "Saints are SB Champs", and others say he said, "Saints are trying to become SB Champs".
There's a HUGE difference in those 2 scenarios.

I understand the context because I was saying that once or twice this season. When we were down big at Miami, I remember thinking - "It's cool, we have Drew Brees", and when the Washington kicker missed the FG that would have iced the game, I remember saying - "Well that would have put us away, too bad for them, we're still in it, and Drew Brees in our QB".
So it was pretty much in that context.

I heard him make both comments but at different times and not in conjunction with one another. The "we have Peyton Manning" comment was made after the Saints went up by seven and not after the game, unless I missed something.
He appeared to be very gracious in giving the Saints their due following the game.

Completely agree. Had they voted for MVP after the playoff were concluded Drew would have had his first. He's out performed Manning over the four years he's been in New Orleans.

He is a moron... So what if they have Peyton, we have Brees..

"They may have Peyton Manning, but they also have to live in Indianapolis."

People are still taking it out of context even after it was explained what the announcer meant.

The argument can definitely be made.
Both have 1 ring.
Both have the same amount of TDs, 122.
Peyton has less INTs, 51 to Brees's 57.
Both have led the league in QB rating once.
Peyton has led the league in TD passes onces and never in yards in the last 4 years, while Brees has led the league in TDs twice and passing yards twice.
Brees has had a higher completion % over the past 4 seasons, including setting the all time record this past season.
The argument can definitely be made, it's not so obvious like many make it out to be.
