frick blockbuster/high budget flicks... movies that stand the test of time are what matters to me. I think that Count of Monte Cristo (2002 version) is one of those flicks that never gets old, and also gets better w/ time... what say you?

I've seen it several times... I absolutely love it. Caviezel is great.

Surprisingly good movie. I really like the prison scenes.

Anyone seen the 1934 version with Donat? How does it compare to the classic?
I also just realized that this was Richard Harris's last great performance.

There is some obscure piece of shite you haven't seen?

It didn't really get a lot of attention at the box office, but if you think about it, it has so much going for it. A solid lead, a villain you absolutely despise, an epic scale story set in a larger than life setting over many years. It's really great.

Agreed. It's pretty strange that the star power and familiar (famous) storyline didn't get much hype, but that probably helped it in the end...

Awesome, awesome movie. One of my favorites of all time...

Caviezel does an amazing job of changing from young, naive, ignorant deckhand to matured, angry, wise Count. He plays 2 very different characters and is masterful in doing so.

The movie was fantastic but the book gives such a more detailed plot regarding how Dantes plans his revenge and is a little more fulfilling.

My grandmother's grandfather wrote the book, Alexandar Dumas
