Current ht/wt are from last year's roster (Same as this year's roster as it has not been updated yet).

LT
(6'5, 301) JR. Greg Shaw
- Projection looks to be Barksdale here but unfortunately I just don't feel comfortable with him protecting Jefferson's blind side. If he a pretty good tackle? Yes. But Greg Shaw will have been working at LT specifically for 3 seasons and I think he's ready to step up here. What about Chris Faulk you ask? I'll get to him in a bit...

LG
(6'4, 300) JR. Will Blackwell or (6'7, 336) rFR. Josh Williford
- By all accounts it seems like the staff is projecting 1 of these 2 guys here anyways and I like both ideas. Blackwell is a bit seasoned as a backup and brings a defensive attitude to the offensive side of the ball. Williford by many accounts has made huge strides since last spring and should challenge big time for a starting spot. Blackwell gets the edge in experience, but let's be honest, seeing a jumbo LG once again would bring back so many good memories form Herman Johnson when we actually ran the ball well with Josh Williford starting here. Plus, nothing like getting a recruit from AL and have him road grade through Alabama and Auburn who didn't pay much attention to him in the recruiting process.

C
(6'3, 285) JR. T-Bob Hebert
- Hebert had a tough year still dealing with his injury but I fully expect him to put on a little more weight and be 100% for next fall. He is our best signal caller at center and has been playing center since pee-wee football. Many native Louisianans want to see PJ Lonergan here but I simply do not believe he is our best option at center as long as Hebert is here and healthy. Ideally for getting physical again I want to see Hebert carry about 300 pounds which he should be okay with.

RG
(6'6, 324) SO. Alex Hurst
- This is a no brainer here. The coaches obviously groomed him for this spot last year playing some significant snaps here. Everyone has to like this move as it SEVERELY beefs up our interior OL over departed Lyle Hitt. Hurst has an easy 30 pounds on Hitt. I don't see anyone pushing Hurst hard for this spot. Anyone know what has happened to Clay Spencer? Highly rated lineman out of high school has kind of disappeared from coach-talk

RT
(6'5, 315) SR. Joseph Barksdale
- Now the coaches seem convinced he will be our LT next year but I really want him to stay over on the right side because he seems comfortable enough over there and more natural for him. Moving over to the left side can be a big change and something that may take more than year's time he has to get comfortable with. Keep him here and let rFR. Chris Faulk study him hard as I think Faulk should start here in 2011. Why? Because in 2011 Shaw will be a SR. and if he starts at LT we can redshirt La'El Collins while Collins watches Shaw and then step up in 2012 as the starter there. Anyone else creaming their pants over the prospect of Collins and Faulk as being our starting tackles? The coaches projection here seems to be Josh Dworacyzk which I'm just kind of bleh on. He didn't impress me much last season and needs to put on so much weight. He looks like a (big) TE.

I think most "native Louisianans" want the best player there, whoever it is. Really stupid comment.

Greg Shaw's one of those guys that I'd like to get a look at, if for no other reason than to just get some idea of what he can do. He made the 2 deep as a freshman, only played the opener (still waiting on a mysterious injury for a RS), and then hasn't been heard from since. Seems we'd quicker put Josh D at LT when Black went down than him. Was he hurt? In the doghouse?

All that said, I'd like to see Josh D in the mix at LT in the spring, and Parsons back on the OL, he seems mobile with a mean streak.

You must be new here. There's a nice large contingent of folks who hate to see out of states kids come and play for LSU.

As a center, no. Hebert has a big lead on Lonergan at that spot, but injuries have really hampered Hebert.

Word is he is tearing it up in the weight room. If true he could be a monster.

Good to see that our OL will be getting much bigger. Hitt and Josh D just did not have the size to be effective on the interior. I think Josh D would make an adequate Right Tackle and do a better job there than at Guard. He definitely has the feet and mobility for it.

I think Shaw has some talent but he may unfortunately end up being a career backup. I could see him starting at LT as a Senior in 2011 if La'el Collins takes a redshirt and is groomed for the future.

gimme your 5 Rock. we need to be beastly again. I want to strike fear in our opponents' hearts when they prep for us. And then break their wills in the game.

My top 5 is about like the original poster's top 5.

We do need a new attitude up front. Stud needs to get his fat arse on the fricking treadmill and get into shape so he can move around on the field and pump up the intensity.

I agree most want the best player at center and that would be P J Lonergan. To quote Bobby Hebert who said on the radio that show me a great offense and I'll show you a great center. Conversely, show me a poor offense and I'll show you a poor center. I say take his advice and play Lonergan.

Sorry Hebert was not the cause of our poor offense.

I really wonder if some of you have ever played or understand center play. I played center a bit in high school and after watching P.J. Lonergan in the bowl game it became clearly evident to me why the coaches kept playing an injured T-Bob Hebert over Lonergan. Lonergan is still learning just how to play center.

Shaw, Blackwell, Hurst, Williford are all huge o-linemen. I would love to see them start and at least have a chance of getting some rushing yards this year. There's no reason any RB should not be able to get a large amount of yards behind this starting o-line.
