Are those considered "In-State" or "Out-of-State" players??
Fobbs! Just yanking your chain!

Well, it took Dandy Don a year to realize Morris Claiborne was on the team.

Are WM and ECA so much further ahead of the others in that area? Seems like few D-1 recruits come from any where else. Claiborne and Fobbs seem to be diamonds in the rough. Airline,Benton, etc always competitive but seems to get worse as years go by.

I think part of the problem with places like Benton, Airline, Haughton, etc. is players are out of position due to need.
IE, If a kid at Benton is 6-1, 210 as a senior he might have been a good LB but he was playing OL all during his career due to need.

That would have been my guess. Coaches have hard time selling athletes that are not skill guys. Most D-1 schools have large talent pool already in position. I'm from Bossier area and always have hopes a big timer will come out of there.

A. WM is 100 miles away.
B. Yes, they both are that far ahead, mainly due to 2 factors. Coaching and weight programs in those two programs are as good as it gets at the high school level. WM has a coach for every position. It's much easier to train a kid when you have position coaches than just 4-5 coaches that have OL, DL, Backs/WR/QB, LB/DB, ST. The weight program at WM is year round. You get about 10 days at the end of the school year for a vacation, then workouts start back 3 times a week.

You may get your wish in T.K. Fleming of Benton.

How times change back when I was at NLU in late 70's WM was a joke. We(Airline) would scrimmage them every summer and was always a joke. Neville was the big daddy. Airline and Benton are big money areas and good schools. You would think they would start making up ground.

A big timer will come out of Bossier but he's in the 4th grade right now. He has the size and skills of a 7th grader and he's a big LSU fan.

JJ27 said it pretty good. The coaching in North La is pretty weak and has been for decades. Also the football facilities are garbage at well at most schools. Having top notch facilities is just not important and thus is another big reason why you have crap football programs. There is a butt load of talent in the Shreveport/Bossier area but most of it never gets developed because of what JJ27 has stated. It's really sad because Shreveport/Bossier Football should be big time.

Find him a position now and give his daddy a job in WM ASAP!

It used to be known as less talent better coaching. Lee Hedges, A.L Williams, etc.

WM is in a region that has many schools that put out D1 athletes consistently, such as Rayville, Bastrop, Neville and Ruston. ECA on the other hand is the Shreveport region and really the only school that consistently puts out D1 players. I would venture to say Neville and Ruston have each sent more players to LSU and to the pros than most school in the state

Woodlawn in Shreveport use to be a QB factory, in fact the best the state has or probably will ever have

Woodlawn and Captain Shreve solid in the late 60's and 70's. All those teams and no LSU influence. S'port/Bossier never really had big influence at LSU. Who? Wendel Davis,T.Moss,J.Hester,J.Booty,Bo Harris thats about it.

another problem with the Shreveport/Bossier area is the number of High Schools in the city. The talent is very spread out, but also the school boards will not spend the money on athletics. I think is one high school gets a big booster or Alumni to really improve the football program, that school could become a power house with all the magnet programs in the public school. ECA is its own school board and has a lot of money.

Do you see anybody breaking out of the pack? Or WM and ECA gonna be it for the near future. Doug Pederson and Johnny Booty at Calvary have a chance to break the ECA strong hold? Airline has played WM close most years. Benton up and coming?

Quarterbacks from N LA
Woodlawn Shreveport: Terry Bradshaw, Joe Furgeson, David Woodly
Ruston: Bert Jones, Tom Jones
Homer: David Williams
Stan Humphries ?
There are others I cannot recall.
