This might be a pretty played out topic but I have a few friends getting a place in the quarter who've never been before. I won't be going with them but they want me to tell them what they have to drink and eat down in that area. I worked on N. Peters for a couple months but mainly hit up Napoleon House for the Red Beans and Muffelatas.

Could yall give me a few things/places they have to eat/drink? TIA

(not talking expensive places like galatoires and commanders. Mid-range places for poboys, red beans and rice, gumbo, etc.)

Muffuletta at Central Grocery is a must.

Coffee and beignets at Cafe du Monde.

I'm not a big fan of the whole cafe du monde deal but that's probably something they should do at least once

Oyster poboy from Casamento's

Absolutely.

And in my opinion, some things are popular because they really are good and not just because it is the thing to do.

I think this place (food, cafe' au lait, atmosphere), is one of those.

you gotta hit up the Krystals in the quarter at some point...even if it is at 4 in the a.m. and you can barely stand up.

Tell them to go to for a poboy. It may not be the absolute best in the city, but 100% positive they will like it.

This plus maybe Couchon its a good place for mid range priced cajun food. (ok maybe expensive for cajun food but its a mid range prices restuarant)

Maybe Acme Oyster House and defintily send them to Dragos just to get some charbroiled oysters.

Do they still have Takee Outee?

That would be my early morning choice!

Frozen Irish Coffee at Molly's.

Note to the OP, tell them to go to Molly's at the Market for drinks. Best bar in the 1/4, by a long shot.

Their Bloody Marys with a shot of Guinness are money.
