McShay said LSU talent level has gone down over the past 4 years & there players aren't being coached up.

He also said that Davis & Hunter didn't like they way LSU used Shepard & Randle & that's the reason they changing their minds

i don't think that he is talking about last years class. i think that he is referring to last years seniors and the upcoming senior class. he will change his mind when last years class become seniors.

This sounds like rampant speculation to me.

I agree that the players might not be getting coached up. That's obviously translating to the draft, as it's doubtful we have a first rounder picked this year. But LSU is still getting really good college prospects to campus

Todd McShay is a "sports-reporter", not a football coach. What does he know about players getting "coached-up"? I am so tired of hearing all these jock-sniffers trying to use terms that they recycle from hearing other athletes, coaches use.

did he mention why Boone, Fobbs, Copeland and Ferguson decided to attend LSU? No, didn't think so.

I would think since he does draft analysis he looked at the talent of the kids that came in and how they are prepared now for the draft.

I guess we'll find out next season if any of that is true.

Randle played a good bit, but we all knew that LaFell & TT were going to play more. Miles seemed like he had Shep & Trindon, who never seemed to get much PT in his career as equals, and decided that Trindon would get most of those few touches.

McShay is mostly right, BUT he is the Lane Kiffin of scouting. He regurgitates what he reads on Message Boards and Kiper's columns. He picks things at times to disagree with Mel just to cover his tracks.

I'm sure that pos talked to those two guys in person. Not! He is always pulling shite out his arse. He knows very little about the Pro draft and even less about recruiting.

well, for one, i'm not taking McShays opinion as fact. he has one, fine. i have one too. so does everyone else. hunter didn't like our new coach with a proven record of success but went to UT with no coach at all? davis finally got his offer to play for his home state school had nothing to do with LSU. my OPINION is that Todd McShay doesn't know what the hell he's talking about and is making shite up. seems to be the nature of the sports anaylsts genre these days.

He does have some valid points. But the decline of talent is contradictory to all national recruiting services, including ESPN.

Probably a little truth to that - bottom line though - Texas did not want Mike Davis until late in recruiting process, can't blame him from changing to his home state school.

Justin Hunter probably wanted to be a little closer to home and Kiffin had him locked up to announce on signing day to slam LSU like he did with Janzen Jackson. At least he bolted when he did so we could replace him with some local guys LSU was slow playing.

I think it's a knee-jerk reaction. All the media guys are the same. Everything is about the present. We have 2 mediocre seasons after a national championship and all of a sudden, our talent level is no good. I call Bull shite. I respect Todd McShay, but I completely disagree with him.

A good example of this is how Cassius Marsh was elevated so much after one good game (not saying he's not good, but it was one game).

Well it was really more than that. It was a week's worth of practices and 1v1's against the nation's best. He was dominating all of the other blue chippers all week long. The game capped it off.
