After sseing his film i was completely blown away. He looks like a Henry Thomas, Lavalais,John Randle all put together in one body. Except quicker than all of them. I see him in the rotation his freshman year, then a 2 or 3 time all-american.

Can you just imagine him and Freak Johnson playing side by side.

He'll have something to say about that. I think he'll get solid playing time this season just like Downs did.

It all hedges on how big he is when he shows up on campus. If he's 290 like his coach says then I think he'll see playing time early, but if it's closer to 250 or 260 then they'll probably redshirt him to let him add some bulk before they throw him out there.

right on my man

I am very excited about the prospect of josh downs and drake nevis starting at DT this year.

IMO, the potential is absolutely there for this to be the best group of DT's we have had since dorsey left. Much improved from last year. Hopefully both can stay healthy.

In additoin, depth with guys from last year as well as copeland and ferguson give us a lot of flexibility.

I believe that this will allow us to see much more production from Chavis' D next year. No clue about the offense, but I expect our D to be cracking some skulls next year.

I don't post much.... and I have to say I haven't watched his film until now, but the kid looks damn good. He seems to not only have raw athletic ability but the "high motor" and "plays till the whistle" that you normally only hear in reference to kids that aren't as highly thought of (read: white).

Damn good pickup.

Here is the video again. I never get tired of watching it:

Copeland highlights

After watching that video, it's easy to see how JC got "27 sacks in his senior year..."

If Copeland has the size, then he is a lock to see PT.

His videos are impressive...he's gonna need the year of college practices though...the whole D-Line on that team looked amazing...knowing that they were AAA and lost in the first round of the playoffs this past season make me think we shouldn't be anointing him as the next dorsey or jackson as a freshman.

Has anything been said about how coachable he is? i must confess, i haven't been keeping up with recruiting much this year.

Well, considering that we only have 3 (by my count) true, scholarship defensive tackles right now (before you count the freshmen) then it would seem likely that he'd get a shot.

Obviously they'll move some defensive ends inside to help with the depth issues but yeah

He plays, doesn't start. His coach says he'll be 290 in the fall. Russell Sheperd gained 12 lbs fairly quickly with the muscle milk . So yeah, has a decent shot to back up Downs as our speed rush in the middle.

uhh not to be a negatiger... I wathced about 1/2 the video and saw a guy getting into the backfield because he was not touched..no blocking at all ! sure he looks fast, strong, and bad arse and I hope is brings it all to LSU but seriously, did I miss something ?? He was given a free ticket into the backfield on every play.
