Only career goals really left out there:

- I would think he wants to win the French atleast once more.
- Possibly win the Grand Slam in one year or hold all at the same time.
- Win the gold medal in singles at the 2012 Olympics(He would be too old for 2016)
- Maybe hit 20 titles eventhough his mark is pretty unreachable already

I could see Nadal making a run at all his records if his career isn't destroyed by injury. If fed exits early enough in his career Nadal will probably completely dominate.

Fed is a very likeable guy so I hope he remains the GOAT.

He's a baller and seems to be a pretty good guy.

I hope we don't find out he has had 18 mistresses.

Not gonna happen. Experts like McEnroe had been saying that Nadal's body wouldn't be able to hold up under his style of play long before he started to break down. Now it's just coming to fruition.

So either Nadal is going to keep this up and completely break down early or dial it back to preserve his health but lose something from his game.

Nadal would also have to catch up to not only 16, but the 10 that Federer will likely win from here on out. I say he goes for about 26 grandslams when it's all said and done.

His game is so fluid and effortless, that he doesn't get injuries. I could see him being around 7-8 more years and competing at a high level the entire time.

I just question what he would be working for outside of what I listed. He almost seemed like "yay I did it again see y'all next year". I think he could end up just retiring from boredom.

It is definitely not going to happen. Even when Nadal is healthy he's not the best hardcourt player. That is not counting Fed either. People like Delpo, Murray, Djokovic, and soon even people like Cilic will probably pass him on that surface. He's also probably never going to be the same player that he was. This is the second season in a row that he's about to lose to injury.

I also think the prediction that Fed reaches 26 is a little extreme. If I were to guess right now I'd say 20 total

yeah fed hasn't been winning grand slams (other than the french) at will like he used to

he's going to lose in a good # of finals in the next few years by his standards. the small slide has already begun

It's true Peej, Fed is definitly on the way down. 28 is over the hill for a tennis player. Federer sliding just happens to still make him the best player in the world, but the gap is closed significantly

Did you watch the match??? If not STFU. I realize that at 28 he can't go on forever, but tell me One player that is catching him besides Nadal.

Just because he won, doesn't mean he isn't slipping. You're basically arguing that Fed is as good as he was 4 years ago.

Isner is at his peak already imo. He's already 24 and his physical fitness is poor. He'll never be able to hold up for a 2 week major

I think Querrey will be the more dangerous player in the long term

I watched the entire match, and it's pretty obvious that he's starting to decline. Murray played like shite for the first two sets. Federer is still the best player, but he can't go out there and just dominate the rest of the top 5-10 like he used to.

I thought it was pretty obvious that Murray was nervous and it impacted his level of play. He was afraid to even attempt a winner. He had a terrible gameplan. Just putting the ball in play over and over against Fed and waiting for him to make mistakes isn't going to cut it. Like Gilbert said during the match, the only people who have beaten Fed at slams have taken it from. Murray didn't even attempt to take anything until the 3rd set, which was a great, competitive set.
