How good is our 2011 class going to be?!

I know the 2010 class isnt what LSU recruiting is used to but every once in a while you will have a down year thats just how it is in recruiting. Our 2011 class is already stacked with big name guys and its only going to get better. I believe our 2 number one concerns for 2011 is to sign at least 2 big time linebackers; 2 guys of likes of Bradie James and Trev Faulk. We also need 2 or 3 top o-line prospects because we have skill players everywhere and they're just as good as anybody in the nation. Let me know your thoughts.

Two down years on the field, one down year in recruiting. Is there a pattern worth noticing?

If we can lock down these guys:
In-State
Collins
Robinson
White
Johnson
Q. Thomas
Hunter
Rasco
Landry
Sylve
Lewis
Beckham
Hilliard
Hill
Macgee
Then out of state
Jabriel Washington
Anthony Wallace
and a couple of other needs....
Then you are looking at a 2010 UF/Texas type class. We just have to lock down our borders and not allow Dooley, Saban, Chizick and Petrino in.

I see a VERY CLEAR pattern, but there are a bunch of assclown-regulars on this site that don't like (
) people talking negatively about the team...these morons don't understand the value of criticism.
Anyway, I think the 2011 class will be very good for LSU, and I think this mainly due to LA being loaded with both defensive and offensive linemen. I think the slow regression of our team's performance over the course of recent times is due, in big part, to us losing the line of scrimmage in our SEC play. With the addition of guys like Collins and Freak, we may not even be able to get guys to line-up against us without providing them with an insurance policy first.

Yeah. Saban lost 12 games his first three years including one to UAB and a suck-job at Ark. Guess we should have noticed that trend and fired him. Then he couldn't have led us to a NC in '03. And since when is a top ten class trending down? Good grief!

I see a VERY CLEAR pattern,
One data point does not indicated a pattern. Furthermore, even when talking about the 2010 class, we are not looking at a bad class. Seriously, it far from sucks. Top 10-12 nationally is a good, solid recruiting class. If this is a down year, LSU is fine recruiting wise.

just curious, how many of these threads are going to be started? You don't have to post everything that pops into your head and there are already countless threads on the 2011 class. What kind of answers and insight were you hoping to get here that's not already on the board?

This. I posted in another thread that people don't realize how good this class really is. LSU lost 3 top 100 players and are still ranked 6.
Damn we know idea how to bring talent to this school.

LSU can just land in-state recruits next year and have a hell of a class. I doubt they get everyone of them, but 2/3 would be great. Then hopefully we will do a better job of cherry picking our top needs from neighboring states next year.
We've already offered most of Texas' best, but Texas hasn't offered yet either. We can get a better feel of who's available in Texas after they get their 15+ committs by end of February.

We have a good class on paper in 2010. We just need everyone to qualify. If that happens, and Locking up La in 2011, wow!!

quote:Well then, let's all talk good things and think happy thoughts. Just because the last two seasons of LSU football were noticeably sub-par, and this recruiting class isn't looking quite up to recent years' standards, no reason to stop thinking those happy thoughts. Those DiNardo, Archer, Hallman years -- they just never happened and couldn't happen again (since they never existed to begin with)...

As long as "fans" don't start rooting against the team simply so that they can get a new coach and feel very self-satisfied, constructive criticism doesn't bother me.
Calm, positivity and winning are all contagious, just as panic, negativity and losing are.

I've never seen a class like the 2011, this is unreal for the state.

ok, let's not count 2005 because it was a transition period for les and recruiting. That leaves us at 7th in 2006, 4th in 2007, 11th in 2008, and 2nd in 2009. That averages out to 6th over the last 4 years. and we're complaining about being 6th when it's a down year for La talent? Mind boggling
