ESPN.com: Different Football Used in SB - Advantage Manning

There is a learning curve for quarterbacks who advance to a Super Bowl, and Brees hasn't encountered the final step yet. First of all, the football itself is different in the Super Bowl than it is during the regular season and playoffs. The ball has more paint on it, which makes it harder to handle. Manning has been through a Super Bowl and has won one. He understands. Brees won't know what to expect until the game starts, and if it's humid, grasping the football might be even harder. Brees doesn't have hands as big as Manning's and might have some difficulty. Even in the NFC Championship Game, Brees wasn't his usual self throwing the football. Some of his passes were wobbly, and hard for receivers to catch. The edge might be slight, but it would favor Manning and the Colts.
WTF - Why Would the NFL Allow This to be a Factor???

That's the worst "edge" I have ever heard of. More paint? GTFO.

Couldnt Brees just practice with this football for the next two weeks?

Nope, he's stuck trying to park his float at the ESPN studios.

I don't think it will be a factor.
What does it add a few milligrams to the weight?
Make the ball more slippery?

Amazing that Peyton, Eli, and Big Ben were all able to win in their first trip with no experience with the slippery ball.
frick anything John Clayton says. That dude is a huge fricking nerd and has probably never played football in his life.

Next they're gonna say that Manning has an advantage because he uses a different kind of tape to wrap his ankle.

It's OK though, we have better mouthguards...just ask John Gruden.

I call BS on this. Google the official super bowl ball and check out the pic. Then google official NFL ball. Hardly any difference at all.
