I am really excited about the kickoff game in Atlanta next season against UNC. With so much time to prepare/plan the trip and so many tickets available to each school (30k-ish each) it's going to be like a bowl game roadtrip on steroids. Plus we'll be undefeated! I think it's gonna make Seattle, which was a great time, look like a joke.

But having been to all our games in ATL over the last decade, I think+ tailgating sucks around the Dome and the bars are expensive. I was thinking about it and I want to organize a huge tailgate party downtown, outdoors near the dome, and invite fans in town from both schools.

I want to do a little bit of TD.com market research. How much would you be willing to pay for admission to a tailgate that included:

Free unlimited good food (carolina bbq, cajun food), soft drinks/bottled water, HDTVs with satellite for the other games that day, a little live music, somewhere to sit, and some shade from the sun/rain.

The bars will be plentiful, with beer and wine at $4 and mixed drinks at $5. It'd be open from 2 PM through after the game (which is supposed to be at 8 PM. We'll have the game itself on a 12' screen for those that don't have tickets.

Would you pay $30? $20? $25?

How much would you pay for admission and an unlimited drinking/VIP area wristband? $60?

What features do you care most about, and what could you do without?

And are you planning on going to Atlanta?

Thanks in advance for all serious replies and also the amusing ones.

Awesome idea. Tailgating at the Dome is horrible.
Perhaps working with LSU Atlanta would be a good start.

But Carolina BBQ?

"What features do you care most about"

1- Unlimited drinking/VIP area wristband
2- Free unlimited good food (carolina bbq, cajun food)
3- HDTVs with satellite for the other games that day

I'd pay $60

Yeah, I plan to reach out to the Atlanta chapter if I get this off the ground. I want to offer their members a discount. Do you know how many folks show up for their events?

And hey, maybe starting it at 9 a.m. is a good idea for our fan base...

like the idea a lot, i'd be in the stadium for the game though. i could kill a few hours pregame drinking and eating with tiger fans for $25 no problem though.

depending the quality of the setup i'd fork out $50 easy if the food was good and you had good games on HD.

I rented a Grey Lines bus in Seattle. You could bring Ice Chest, Chips/dip, extra clothes, ect. From the Hotel to and from game. Parked about 60 yds. from the stadium. Party till game time and after.
Took about 50 Tiger fans in with me....

I only joined LSU Atl this fall and went to the ARK game at one of the locations. It was dreadful. But it was thanksgiving, so...

This is certainly not a big LSU hotbed for obvious reasons.

Yeah, this only makes sense to do if it becomes 'the' thing to do, with hundreds of people, rather than dozens of people. Hopefully the ATL LSU crew can at least help me get the word out.

At least nobody thinks it's overpriced at $25 or that it's a godawful terrible idea.

I'm here in Atlanta, and $25 or $30 would be fair. I don't think I'd want to do the unlimited drinking though, and perhaps you should think about that from a liability angle.

I'd pay 25 for food and be able to watch the other games. I can get my own drinks. Good idea.

If you just walk in the food court at the CNN Center Beer is alot cheaper and most people are drinking in the street

I've given a lot of thought to the liability etc, but hadn't thought of that particular angle--may just make the VIP section a dedicated bar and limited access for a smaller premium. Or just can the idea altogether.

Or just buy a ton of insurance.

As much as I've done this in the past, and as much as I love tailgating with taco bell, hopefully most don't feel this way.

True. CNN Center is not much.

I'd drop $60 for unlimited bar/food, as long as there was security keeping people who haven't paid out, and the lines weren't so long I didn't get my money's worth.

Hey, I'm on the board with LSU Atlanta. We are already discussing our options, including renting a parking lot for something like what you suggest.

Please drop me an email at mike.a.tiger@gmail.com and let's chat. There are a lot of challenges to our nonprofit chapter regarding serving alcohol, all of our events are BYOB...BUT if enough juice is involved we could subcontract to a caterer with a liquor license. Again, prepare to reach into your wallet!

FYI the Tabernacle (old church near CNN Center that hosts concerts) has already been booked for the Friday night before with Terrance Matte and friends, so your night before options are already falling into place.

Let's see how this all shakes out.
