other team has the ball for 40 minutes, it means your offense kept giving it back to them after 3 downs.
Ill give you half...cause your half right...the otehr half is the ablitlty to stop a drive with pressure...sacking the QB and keeping the down and distance margin in your favor...HENCE 3rd and Chavis...The down and distance is never in his favor b/c he never brings pressure and gets a sack to cause a longer down and distance...

how many times did UF punt against us? once? twice? The problem is our D giving up long time consuming drives also.

When we finally get a stop we are at a HUGE disadvantage field position wise. we need more 3 and outs. F A C T !

Okay One thing Chavis does is take away the LONG play for a touchdown..
He will give up the underneath stuff and make your have a long drive down the field to score on us...
It isn't what LSU fans are used to, I totally understand. But to say Chavis' 3rd ranked SEC defense and the nationally 12th ranked defense in scoring defense is the reason why we lost the 4 games.. your NUTS!!!!
If I remember correctly, Penn State has the ball on our side of the field to start 4 times. 2 was from turnovers by SR and TT. The defense limited them to 4 FIELD GOALS! That is a win for the defense.. that means if the offense decides to try they could be winning with just 2 possessions..
Chavis did a great job in his first year and it will only get better...
FOR THE RETARDS OUT THERE, IN CASE YOU DIDN'T KNOW CHAVIS IS THE DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR! LOL

had a negative attidtude about him because he said he doesnt like to bring pressure if he can cover everyone..
even a retard can figure out with no pressure you cannot keep WR's covered all day no mater how good your CB's and safeties are.

4 different LBs had a sack this year. On a team that couldn't get any pressure from the DL. It is hard to get pressure via the blitz when your DL struggles to win one on one matchups almost every time.

That will happen when the opposition controls the line of scrimmage. DL needs to get much better.

Your not counting how long the defense had to stay on the field because of Chavis's wussy arse D.
Plus the offense getting much fewer snaps and chances to score or get drives going.

well, some on here who back Chavis Fully cant figure that out cause thats what happend to us all year..I know our D-backs were good and he played to our strengths but damn..bring a backer or two and stop a drive....Which I think he is good dont get me wrong, but He's not what we need or are accustomed too

ummm...thats why you blitz...

LSU fans are just not use to his style of defense... Thats what I said in my post..
We are used to 3 and out ... or 6 and outs..
Chavis' defense doesn't bring the heat as much but it doesn't allow the offense to have a big play score..
Notice when the ball is snapped Chad jones was taking 3-4 steps backwards...
I'm not saying his defense is perfect or what we need here at LSU but to blame our inconsistency on offense and our losses on him is irrational.

no big deal. the opponent only converts 42% of the time on 3rd down

Its you that don't seem to understand. Four different LBs had a sack for us this year, meaning we blitzed LBs numerous times. We blitzed Coleman more often than not.
You don't seem to understand that blitzers can be picked up quite easily by blocking schemes when a DL is playing as poorly as our was this year. And a blocked LB/S is worse than not blitzing him at all, because they very, very rarely do anything after being blocked by a lineman or TE. And now, you have one guy less guy who can cover...

You are right 3rd and medium/longs are no big deal.
(Nice try at deflecting the actual point via unimaginative sarcasm.)

what about the 53% of 3rd down opponents converted in the 4th quarter of our losses?
alarming, no?

Yes, but overall 3rd down conversions has nothing to do with "3rd and Chavis," and with our DL play this year, and our lack of sustained drives, no scheme would have held up in the 4th quarter.
Now if you want to blame our horrid DL play on Chavis have at it. But that was the real huge weakness of our team this year.

It tells me they were fukking tired...
And probably pissed that the offense couldnt stay on the field for more than a minute at a time...

technically it doesnt mean we blitzed numerous times, it means we called different ones...

I dont believe this... cause we didnt blitz that much

totally agree and got it the first time...believe me I know the DL was horrendous and almost all the blame goes on them for long sustaining drives...but at some point to win close games you have to take risk...and win the down and distance battle...we were never setup with down and distance in our favor...
