DD is high on him, says he is a big kid with a great strong arm.

But all I hear is how good Garrett is!
Backup QB's are always better to the fans when the season doesn't go like they thought it should.Welcome to life's lesson on human nature.Ask JL as he was being called the second coming of Brett Farve. Now most hope he leaves.Leave out human nature in your equation and you will get screwed everytime.

No matter how good he is....
Miles will never let him see the field as long as JJ or Lee are healthy....
Upperclassmen always play first....Miles rule #3

AG - Funny how ironic your post is about the Back up always being better from certain fans viewpoint. Well, based on what we saw from JL this year & the replacement Center's performance on Friday, a change is always not always for the better.

Zach Lee is the best QB on LSU's roster and should be starting over JJ, and CG!!!
z. lee might not even be here if MLB comes calling. we are qb poor with no recruits in sight

Because the backup QB is always the best QB on the team? We don't know. If we got a free season ticket for every big time recruit that flopped (not just at LSU, but anywhere) we'd be set.

Can you honestly say someone who you can't even name is LSU's 3rd greatest quarterback?

Here is what I know:
1) He was highly touted in the Starkville, Ms area (Tupelo?). His Father and family overall took a lot of greif for him choosing LSU over Miss State. I think his Dad went there and is a Ms St fan
2) Rivals 100 had him as a 3-star Pro style QB (was 4-star at one point and then down to 3-star i think). He is 6' 4" Pro size QB with a strong arm.
3) Spring Game - I saw him and he looked very sharp. Showed very good pocket presence and overall situational awareness, stepping up in the pocket several times to make strong and accurate throws. He just looked like a very composed and mature leader, and he really did look like the "real deal" in that venue. Granted it was only the spring game, but I came away very impressed about his potential on the Ponderosa.
That's all I can offer about him.

My freshman year at LSU was 1958 and of course the quarterback was Warren Rabb. LSU No.1

LOOK... it is not my fault that CG is the best QB on the team. If you don't like it then don't start threads egging me on to say it.

If Chris Garrett starts he will stink it up like all other young SEC QBs

If we can't run the ball it won't matter who the quarterback is.

See Colt McCoy's freshman campaign to see what is possible. Yes, that was Big-12, but his TD-INT ratio and overall performance were very strong....Also see Tommy Hodson's freshman campaign...Didn't Sam Bradford do pretty damn well?
