After the 2008 season, it was obvious that our defense needed some help. What did LSU do? Hire one of the best defensive co's in the country along with a great staff including Brick Haley and Ron Cooper. You can make a claim that our defense wasnt spectacular this year, but it was definately much improved over last year and would have been even better if our offense could stay on the field for more than 3 plays at at time!

After the 2009 season, it is obvious that or offense has struggeled. What should LSU do? Bring in Mike Leach! (yeah you read right)Mike Leach as the new OC of the LSU Tigers and let Crowton go on his way. His offensive play calling is obviously not working (insert closing minutes vs Ole Miss and closing minutes vs Penn St), nor is he grooming players to be better (insert Jarrett Lee). Mike Leach is broken property, so as this would be a step down from a HC job, I dont think he is going to get any offers soon. If you have kept up with college football more than just LSU, you know what kind of offensive genius he is. Please respond. (If you dont think it should be Leach or Crowton, who do you think could be a good OC for LSU?)

You're gonna get tore up.

We're stuck with the same coaches just like we're stuck with seniors playing over more talented freshmen and sophomores.

nice dream though.

I personally don't know if Leach's offense would work, I never really looked at it that much. Scores points though.

if we keep Crowton we will be the next miss. State in a couple more years. My deceased grandmother could do a better job calling plays!

Just saying

Good thought but not worth thinking about because no way it happens.

The guy is damaged goods at this point. While the football programs are all arguably corrupt, I don't see a University of repute taking him on. I don't want him associated with mine.

AND, since the consensus is that Les is dumb, do we want a guy who would get caught up in something like this with Craig James' son? Doesn't sound real smart to me.

Maybe Leach isnt the answer but Crowton is definately not the answer! we were 112th in offense this year.

But since it is Craig James' son, how bad was it blown out of proportion? If it was Joe Smith's son, we might not have even heard about it!

Against Big 12 defenses.

2005 Cotton Bowl:

Alabama 13
Texas Tech 10

F*ck that offense. It would garner at least five losses every year against an SEC schedule. You HAVE to be able to run the ball.

Do you know who was taking carries for us in the Capital One Bowl? our 4th string RB... our 4th string RB is better than any RB Texas Tech can recruit... Thats why they didnt run the ball not to mention the field conditions and the horrible offensive line at the Cap One Bowl

Wrong. It's not that they CAN'T recruit good RBs, it's based on scheme. There is a dearth of talent in Texas. Especially at RB. Take a look at all the running backs from Texas playing for teams outside the state.

if you were a good RB as you say there are a plethra of... would you want to go play in the rolling hills of west texas or play at OU or Texas or even A&M or another BIG school? They just broke 30,000 students for enrollment for the first time ever!

Leach doesn't have the personality to be OC for Les or anyone else. He'll pop up as HC some place where the admins just want a winner, knowing up front what they're getting.

(Ironically, just like Texas Tech did when they hired Bob Knight).

You missed the point. What I'm saying is that there are more good running backs in TT's recruiting area than there are positions at your "BIG" schools for them to fill. TT doesn't have great running backs because of their offensive scheme. Which is to pass the ball 90 percent of the time. And just like TT, if we hired Leach at LSU or installed that offense here we wouldn't be recruiting the RBs we have now because 1) We wouldn't need them to run our offense and 2) They wouldn't come here because of our offense.

I could call cover 3 all game and give the recievers 10 yds of cushion all day and save them 100 grand a year.

I'm not necessarily completely talking about implemnting Leach's scheme here, just saying that his situational play calling is much better than Crowton. I completely agree that we need to be able to run the ball and need to keep those recruits, but he would be the OC not the HC

Have you been to Lubbock?

That description makes it sound almost liveable?

I know this is not relevant.

Maybe we can send Crowton or Miles there for retirement
