So people's take on Lonergran?

I noticed not many on here have discussed Lonergran's performance in the bowl game replacing Hebert.
I recall many on here claiming that Hebert was too small, and Lonergran would vastly improve our running game.
Kid looks to have potential, but its obvious our OL problems weren't just personnel selection as it was still mediocre with switches on the line.
What did you all think of Lonergran's play?

I think he needs more of a chance than some people on here are giving him. T-Bob has 11 starts. PJ has 2.
I don't think you can base how PJ will perform strictly off of the Penn State game. He dominated against La Tech, then didn't play again until the bowl game where everybody struggled.
I think he's gonna be a good one. He'll be a redshirt sophmore next season with some experience, and a whole offseason to get better.

We gave up one sack in the game and it was Black's man. Nobody came from the middle to sack JJ. JJ had more time to throw the ball in this game than any game this season. I thought Hurst did well while he was in the game.

I really thought the issues were more at guard than center if you wanna talk switching personnel. Either T-Bob or PJ had their work cut out for em never having had snaps at center before. I thought T-Bob improved as the year wore on.
PJ looked ok, nothing jumped out at me except a play where their DT blew up a run play. But I think that guy was like Big 10 DPOY and an All America, so he had his work cut out.

He was facing a potentual NFL starter.

just about every time we play an SEC team there is a potential NFL starter somewhere on the D-Line, it's not an excuse.

He was blown up multiple times as well.

MAN UP AG!! All your post through out the year was IF T Bob would be replaced, inside running game would improve considerably!! 25 attempts, 41 YDS in Bowl game!! MAN UP!! How are you gonna blame Friday's inside running game debacle on Hebert this time?? Now, are you going to admit that Hebert was not the root of the problem?

Not good

I noticed on the replay last night that Lonergran and Hitt were blown off the line most of the time. Also, Barksdale gets pushed into JJ A LOT.

I watch PJ.......he did not perform better than T-Bob. Hurst was noticibly better than Hitt as well.
Our interior lineman will be greatly improved next year.

Well, that shouldn't be too hard to accomplish

The entire interior of the LSU o-line did not play well this season. In fact, they got dominated in most games. The incredible talent at the RB and WR positions was all that bailed them out. In the bowl game, more troublesome than Lonergan's play, I thought 68 looked completely over-matched. That wasn't the first time it happened, either. I know those OL kids are busting their tails off and giving what they have. Unfortunately, outside of the two tackles, the o-linemen that played most this season are not very good. While there were many issues this season, the OL was the weakest area of the team. Honestly, I see no resolution next season.

I still think that T-Bob is the better of the two and again I'm only going off of 2 games for Lonergan, I still think T-Bob was adequate for the most part.

A year of growth from Soph to Jr can be HUGE. I am optimistic. Josh D just needs some serious Moffitt mojo.......if he gets that, the kid will flourish.

#68 was a liability all season as well as #65, now if either of there two miss a block it will look as if the center did. What I saw all season was poor communication with blocking schemes and JoshD TBob and Hitt never truly picked it up.
Barksdale and Black just did not show up this year, Ciron got to take all of summer and fall prep off, so he came into fall camp out of shape.
So the line chemistry was bad and also the coaching was terrible.
What will it take to hire PSUs OL coach. Stud is one of the highest of not the highest paid OL asst in the country, do you really think he will get up and leave? Nope.

Paw Paw AG!! Where is your darn comments on the inside running game for the Cap One Bowl game? Why are you not pointing fingers to the interior line like you have done all year? Boy, PJ made a difference!

It's hard to base Lonergran's skills off of 2 games, but at least he doesnt spend half the game on his back like T-Bob seemed to this season.
Like many have mentioned, Hurst played MUCH MUCH better than Hitt did. I guess we can chalk Hurst's lack of play this season to Miles' seniority rule; because there is NO reason for Hitt to be in the game on that last drive against Penn State when Hurst was, at the very least, holding his own out there.
Hitt has probably regressed the most of anyone on the team the last 2 years.

Kennesaw, I love the way you stretch the truth (T Bob on his back??) trying to justify PJ's play on Friday! Hey, I understand C is a tough position, but it amazes me how certain people all year have just SLAMMED T Bob but refuse to give an objective analysis on the Center play for the Bowl game. 25 att, 41 yds! Can we agree that the Center position was not the Root of the offense's problem all year?
