Who would you rather play for: Duke, UNC, or LSU?

And of course, in steps Brady's defense lawyer, Tiger 20 with the Brady lovefest STILL! Hey Tigger 20, if Brady was such a great coach, then why the hell is he at dipshit Arkansas St? Even you know that no legit basketball program would ever hire Brady again!

Your comments are totally irrelevant. Interesting that you did not address teh topic of why great basketball players don't attend LSU. Nor did you refute the relative comparison I posted between Brady and Johnson. Because you had no answer.

Ever think Brady may have wanted to just step back for a few years after the ten year grind of LSU's incredible climb to the top. He gets paid to coach ASU while also getting paid by LSU. Even better he doesn't have to put up with illogical people like you who refuse to acknowledge what an accomplishment it was to win two SEC titles, 3 SEC West titles, recruit another SEC title team and West champ plus appearances in the Final four and Sweet 16 while guiding the program through draconian sanctions.

These Elite Louisiana recruits Brady lost 7 McDonald's All American's 12 top 100 rated recruits.

This is the real reason the program is in the shape it's in.

Neil Reed 1998
Brandon Dean 1998
Brandon Mouton 2000
Chris Duhan 2000
Nick Anderson 2000
Von Wafer 2003
Shan Foster 2004
Damian Johnson 2005
D.J. Augustin 2006
Tweety Bird Carter 2006
Perry Stevenson 2006
LaceDarius Dunn 2007
Greg Monroe 2008

By the way Kendrick Brown never played for LSU , Magnum Rolle transfered & Jaime Lloreda was run off in the middle of an all SEC season caliber season

I think it's a combination of lacking coaching magnetism since Dale's tenure ended, sanctions for a spell, in-state talent level fluctuations, LSU slide back to a regional recruiter from national and international under DB, the dated facilities, and a weak fanbase.

Most all have been improved or are being improved as we speak..except the LSU Hoops Fanbase..which continues to suck and retract..a major detriment to LSU Hoops lack of regional and national appeal.

Outside of the great 1979-80 & 1980-81 teams, 1988 CJ Frosh year, Shaq years '89-90-91, 2000 SW16, 2005-06 Final 4, and last year's SEC Champs..pitiful crowds. And even during some of the aforementioned, especially Brady era and last year..still majority weak crowds unless a ranked team or Ky is in town.

I love LSU and I love hoops..but LSU fans don't deserve a top-tier hoops program!

Wow! Brady inherited a moribund program after four straight losing seasons which was under NCAA investigation leading to draconian sanctions and you make a comment that Brady not signing 12 recruits is the "reason the program is in the shap it is in". You totally ignore the 3 SEC champions, 4 SEC West champs, Final Four and Sweet 16 teams he recruited to focus on those he did not sign. You can take the Top 100 list every year and find at least half who don't sign with their in state schools, many with a far greater basketball tradition than LSU.

You do realize tht every good player in a state can't be signed every year due to scholarship limits or position needs.

Let's look at your list:

1998 Neil Reed & Brandon Dean - Brady signed Stromile Swift, Jabari Smith, Lamont Roland, Brian Beshara, Jermaine Williams, Marquis Ledoux

2000 Brandon Mouton, Chris Duhon, Nick Anderson - LSU was in the middle of draconian sanctions and these players signed in the fall of 1999 before the Sweet 16 run in the spring of 2000.

2003 Von Wafer - Brady signed top 25 players Brandon Bass, Tack Minor, Regis Koundjia, Kentucky Player of the yyear Ross Neltner, and Darnell Lazare

2004 Shan foster - Brady signed Glen Davis, Tyrus Thomas ans GArret Temple who all started on an SEC title team and Final Four participant, Temple won another SEC title, Thomas #4 NBA pick and Davis #35 pick. If Foster signed in place of any of the three there is no Final four.

2005 Damian Johnson - Brady signed top 20 recruits Tasmin Mitchell and Magnum Rolle, Chris JOhnson and Kentrell Gransberry

2006 D J Augustin, Tweety Carter, Perry Stevenson - Where would Stevenson fit on the team at the time? Augustin was lost when his family was displaced after Katrina, they signed Terry Martin and Tweety Carter went to Baylor, a wash

2007 Lacedarius Dunn - Brady signed NBA lottery pick Anthony Randolph, SEC Player of the Year Marcus Thornton, Bo Spencer and Q Thornton. Thornton and Spencer started on SEC title team.

2008 Greg Monroe - Like almost every N.O. player over the years he elected to go out of state. Hopefully Trent can change this trend.

I would rather focus on the great accomplishments of the program in the past decade instead of lamenting the decisions of 18 year olds who can be swayed by a number of reasons. Let's see if Trent Johnson can at least match the level of recruiting by Brady before making absurd assertions about a program which in 2008 was light years ahead of the shape it was in when Brady arrived in 1997.

If Brady recruited outside Baton Rouge this team would have Perry Stevenson, Lacedarius Dunn, Tweety Carter & Greg Monroe on this team.

The reason Elite Schools like UNC, UCLA, Texas & UK don't get player in the state is because They don't want them not the Kid doesn't want to go.

UNC Stopped Recruiting John Wall he did choice UK over UNC

Ever hear of Stromile Swift, Antonio Hudson, Torris Bright, Brad Bridgewater, Darrel Mitchell. Why shouldn't he focus oon BR players if that is where the talent is?

They recruited Monroe very hard but like most N.O. recruits he chose to go out of state.

They did not need another big man when
Stevenson was recruited. What has he done to lead you to believe he would had a significant impact at LSU?

Marcus Thornton is better than Lacedarius Dunn and Terry Martin and Tweety Carter are a wash.

You can take any year you want and speculate about players who go elsewhere. Can we expect similar commentary from you regarding Brian Williams and Langston Galloway?

Yep, and Billy Donovan did not have to contend with draconian NCAA sanctions either. The effects of the sanctions impacted LSU basketball through 2003. Brady took ateam to the Fianl Four in the third season that he was able to recruit on the same basis as other coaches. Donovan went to the Final Four in the third year after he arrived in Florida. Donovan then had five straight years of early exits from the NCAA with several defeats to low seeded teams including a #15.

If your point is Brady is not as good a coach as Donovan that is fine. You must also concede that he was the third best coach in the SEC during that period and exceeded the accomplishments of 14-20 other league coaches. Not one other coach had to deal with draconian sanctions, not a single one.

Who are you? I was around one of these elite prospects and it definitely looked like Pierre was in control of recruiting and other recruits were gift wrapped by Temple.

It really appears he has gotten lucky with a lot of LA recruits. I don't see how anyone could credit him for recruiting the final 4 team.

Recruiting is a staff wide process, Pierre was the chief recruiter which is similar to just about every other program.

So in your skewered thought process if Brady doesn't sign a player and he has success elsewhere then Brady should be castigated. Yet if he signs a player not highly recruited and coaches him up into a very good player he is lucky.

I didn't want this to be a Brady vs Johnson thread, but c'mon. Are you really defending Brady? He was really, really bad. Descent recruiter, but just awful coach. Would JB have won the SEC last year? I personally don't think so.

No legit program has ever offered him a job. However, despite his flaws, he left the LSU basketball team in much better shape than he found it. I wonder why he never gets any credit for that? Noone with a positive record wanted the job when he was hired. Even the Old Miss coach, who no one has heard from since, turned us down.

Then why the hell does every thread about LSU basketball or Trent Johnson have to include some gratuitous insult toward Brady. Why not appreciate what he accomplished and pull for Johnson to do even better.

Yes, he accomplished a lot given the situation he inherited and the subsequent NCAA sanctions.

Would JB have won the SEC last year?

Considering he had done so in two of the previous seven seasons there is a reasonably good chance he would have taken a helathy talented team to the SEC championship.
