Yea another one. I didnt partake in the others because i had not seen it yet.
Saw it for the first time last night. I didnt read much about he plot before i saw it but figured it was about war between Humans and Aliens. Well as yall know i was pretty much completely wrong.
The first half of the movie was very odd to me cause it was not what i was expecting. I love how it was put together as a documentary. I really enjoyed it because i had never seen any movie put together like this or that has had a similar plot. Way more SciFi suspense than action but the ending satisfied what i was looking for in the movie. I really enjoyed it and will be looking forward to the sequel if they do decide to produce it.
But i do have some plot questions(i was real tired last night while watching). Im pretty sure the alien ship just ran out of fuel and stopped at earth. correct?
Why did they not make contact for the first two months, was Christopher scavenging for fuel in the ship during this time and just hoped the humans didnt barge in like they did?
With this superior technology and weapons why were the majority of the aliens retarded, yet Christopher seemed he had some intelligence? Was their some hierarchy that as you were more important you were smarter?(Assuming Chris was some sort of leader of the people)
Also it never really explains why this "fuel" was able to combine the Alien and Human DNA. Is this just a scifi mystery the movie never meant to explain?

I saw it the other day too. I liked it, but I got the impression it had a big underlying message, which I never totally got. Yeah, the South Africans and Nigerians were huge assholes and there was a whole thing about looking at things from the side.
They did an excellent job of "humanizing" the aliens and early on I got the impression it was a comparison to slavery or American Indians, but if Aliens show up on earth with dangerous weapons, how should we react?

Well, yeah, I am idiot. I was thinking racial segregation in general. Either way, they did an amazing job of humanizing the aliens, but it is still hard to not understand fears regarding 2 million aliens showing up with special weapons.

So why were the aliens retarded??????
Posted on 12/29/09 at 10:20 am to CarRamrod
they mentioned that the alien leaders had died off, the ones left, the prawns, were lost without someone telling them what to do

I believ there was some sort of mention in the beginning about the intelligent leaders either dying off from illness or getting killed. In any case the brains died off while the 'prawns' were left.

I watched it for the first time as well, without any indication of the plot i also thought war between humans and aliens. The trailers didn't give away anything from what i remember. The first 30 minutes i was like wtf is this and the more the movie progressed the better it got. The main character played a good leading role besides saying FFUUCKK YOUAUU every five seconds. I wonder if Chris will come back in 3 years for the sequel and free his people.

I thought the implication was that they were starving

They were starving but they did not initiate first contact.

Right so if it was just food they would have come stocked and left.

I stayed up late to watch it last night. Like you, I found the first 30 minutes interesting and very entertaining how they set it up like a documentary. Also I didn't get the fuel changing him into one them either...........I figured it was gonna be some kind of metaphor for Teh Ades for a while. Like this new species spreading a new disease or something.
I really liked how it turned out though. This is the first movie in a long time that totally had my full attention from start to finish.
I give it 5 Oprah Titties.
