I just saw this kid is a Sports Illustrated article about Texas QBs. Then I watched his highlight film. I am pretty impressed by him and I think he is a Matt Flynn type QB.

But before I get my hopes high the article mentioned the he is the top pitching prospect in the nation. So that doesnt bode well for us.

Yeah he will probably get drafted in the 1st 3 rounds in the MLB Draft, so he is pretty much gone.

It's a toss up. Some think he's gone, others think he really wants to play baseball/football at LSU.

I don't see him as a Tiger, but I hope I am wrong. That just makes this class a little weaker though.

I posted something talking about how someone I know went to a camp with him and told him that if he was drafted high, he would probably go pro. His mom then signed on and bitched at me.

If baseball doesn't work out, maybe he comes back to LSU one day like a Matt Mauck.

How is he like Matt Flynn besides the fact that he's white and from Texas?

Flynn was a mobile QB with a weak arm

Lee is a pocket passer with a cannon.

I REALLY hope he ends up at LSU, but I doubt it'll happen.

That being said, if he did show up on campus, we'd have to sweat him leaving every year for MLB the whole time he was here anyway. Not good if he should become the starting QB and then bail for MLB.

That being said, I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Does anyone know WHEN we find out for sure whether or not he's coming? Is is before or after NSD? Is he allowed to sign a LOI and then leave for the MLB draft? When IS the MLB draft?

I just saw his video and his mobility and arm puts me in the mind of Flynn. Size wise as well.

Quit trying to make everything race issue.

O know you get paid to make evaluations of recruits but some of us avg people just go off the eye test. And by the way the fact that he is from Texas came to mind as well.

Negative. Once enrolled, you cannot be drafted by MLB until you are 3 years removed from HS OR 21 years old.

From his film, Lee would be the best passer on the roster next year (unless Garrett is legit) and may be the best passer at lSU this decade outside of JR.

Excellent passer, mobile and highly accurate. A cannon. DOubt he shows up, but if he does could be awesome.

Really? I'd have gone with John Elway.

I was trying to compare him to a Tiger not anyone else. If I had to pick a QB anywhere else I would have said Jevan Sneed without the turnovers.

Thanks, Alum. I thought there might be a rule like that in place, but wasn't positive.

Honestly I hope he goes pro...and I don't mean to sound negative. But I'd rather have a QB that is fully focused on fball. QB is the hardest position to learn and all their time needs to go into learning and improving their skills. We've seen how JJ has progressed and he's fully focused on fball. Not a knock on JJ. It's just a tough position to learn. That's just my opinion though.

He will come to LSU and play 3 years of BB and FB and will be drafted again and make a decision about pro BB or FB. Momma wants him to go to college.

The latest mock draft we saw had him pegged as pick #42. He will probably be drafted a little later than he would be otherwise, (because he is currently planning to play at LSU) but he will then be offered more $$ than his slot would indicate.

Based on his family's comments, I think he enrolls at LSU. Lee is a good student, his family wants him to get a college degree, his family is not poor, he wants to explore his potential in both sports ... so why not? Has Chad Jones hurt his earning potential by coming to LSU? Did Jared Mitchell hurt his potential by coming to LSU?

Zach Lee has the potential to be a dominant star at LSU in two sports. I would bet that he plays at LSU for at least three years.
