I kind of hoped for ATL to take it to us this weekend

Out of context. What I MEANT is that if it's a toss up between 17/18-1 or a SB win, I'll take the loss or two and a championship.
Yes, I know it's possible to do both, however, HIGHLY unlikely. I'm trying to be realistic in this most un-realistic of situations. This franchise has never won more than one playoff game. We've already got history to over come, and now we want to pile on an undefeated season on top of the pressure bubble?

Please. Do not bring up the "If the Saints lose now, we'll get it out of the way and it will give us a better chance at winning our playoff games" argument.

Of course, if you ask me to choose:
16-0 but one and done in the playoffs or
15-1 and a SB
You take the SB, but that's not whats on the table. There isn't a rule that says you have to lose one. We aren't "due" a loss, so why not try and get them all. If you ask any player on any team before the season, they aren't gonna say, "In a perfect world we'd lose a game to get it out of the way." They are gonna say "I hope we win every time we go out to play."

Considering what this franchise has (not) accomplished since it's inception, I would say that 13-0 and clinching a playoff spot in November was highly unlikely...might as well stay consistent

HELL NO.
I want to be the first team in this era to win the Superbowl with an undefeated 19-0 record.

Pay attention. He was quoting something I said in order to prove the opposite. Re-read that thread. I said it, he was asking someone else to comment on MY statement, not stating that himself.

Hoping for a loss is so fricking stupid.

OPR is trying to defend himself because if we did lose, it will somehow make our run defense better.

Quoting is using the quote button. He bolded. I will not pay for someone else' stupidity.

To be honest, I just want the Saints to win a super bowl, hell I would be mildly content if they were to get off the "never been to the super bowl" list.
That said, I want this team to get HFA and it looks like 15-1, 16-0 is the way to do it.
I WILL NEVER ROOT FOR MY TEAM TO LOSE

At this point in the season it's moot anyway. Losing 1 or 2 of the last three will not "relieve pressure" because it will be considered a late season slide and will instill a sense of fragility in the team. I do NOT want that. Now that we're here, we have no choice. Which in and of itself, is a whole other bag of pressure. I'm just hoping that we respond to pressure better than we have the last few games. Other than NE, we've been handed several of the last W's. That will NOT happen in the playoffs.
If we think we're getting "everybodys best game" right now, wait until the playoffs. We're going to see hungry teams like never before. I truly hope our D is up to the task.

WTF!!!! Why does it have to be one or the other... please explain to me how losing 1-2 games increases your chances to win a superbowl.
In the Super Bowl era, only 2 teams have an undefeated NFL regular season... One of those teams won the Super Bowl and the other team lost on the greatest play in super bowl history. I like my 50/50 odds.
Much worse than the odds of teams that have lost 1-2 games in a seson...

I don't really understand how people think the pressure is that much greater being 18-0 in the SB than being 17-1. It's still the biggest game of each player and coach's life regardless.

In a round about way, yes. Had we lost 1 or 2 games EARLIER (not right now) in the year by this run, run, run method, I would have more confidence that GW would both recognize this strategy AND be able to adjust to it faster in the playoffs. As it stands right now, the Offense has bailed him out of these type games so far. And if we get into a playoff game with a sputtering offense (playing tight because 17-0 is getting to them) and someone runs the ball for 45 minutes, we'll get bounced. That's all. I'm concerned. Not hoping, or praying for or expecting a loss. Just worried.

I swear to god I was about to start this thread, it was better to lose back in the early season now we're too close to making history we have to do it.

i don't care as long as homefield is wrapped up, but i would prefer that they compete.
BUT, i want Mike Bell healthy more than anything. The offense looks a little disjointed when his power run element is missing.
