State of Lsu football program in my eyes

To me it is amazing how many fans have given up on our team. Also the number of posts stating we are a mediocre football program now is astounding. I guess Usc, Ok, Lsu and whoever else has a few down years should just quit playing football cause they will all become mediocre. ( Sarcasm) All of you need to quit with the sky is falling analogies. I predict a top 10 finish, top 5 recruiting class. We will fix our line play on both sides of the ball. The new talent will be better than what we had, and the coaching issues will be resolved. Our record will be better than where we are now, and I see an SEC and possible BCS trophy within the next several years. I am a glass half full not empty guy, this is why I believe we are ok. But for some reason some people would rather see lsu fail for no other reason then to justify their negative outlook on life. Anyway, if you ask me what I believe what the state of the lsu football program is, we are fine. We will be ok, things will be corrected, fans will be happy. Except those who think negative, for they will always see the glass half empty...

I'm a Tiger fan and have not given up on our team. I understand all of the numbers that some people will throw out - wins, recuiting class, etc.
The problem that I believe most fans have is how can we look so confused and undisciplined so often over a two year period?
LSU will NOT get back to the top of the SEC and the nation until there is a re-dedication to being prepared, playing every play with intensity, and executing. Our eyes will tell us that we're on our way, but I just don't see this over the last 20+ games.

I think we are a national top 10 power house team

i agree with you 100%. there is a segment of our fan base that is very loud and want to change all coaches now and there isn't a thing we can do to change their minds. they have a convaluted memory of the saban regime (and very selective) and think that were as good as the current bama team every game he coached. they were too young to remember anything before then, yet seem to buy into the bama fan notion that we were nothing before saban. in fact, i often think some of these jackasses are bama fans in disguise. we are a damn solid program and we are poised to challenge for a NC in the near future. we challenged for the SEC this year. winning the bama game would have done it and we fell a little short. change the injury situation and the horrible interception call and we damn sure would have. nevertheless, reality is not that segments strong suit. and yes, it does appear that they want miles to fail and therefore they want LSU to fail. kinda like some US citizens wanting obama to fail (and they call themselves patriots).

I agree. Unless we get back to playing physical "make his arse quit football," Florida and Bama will take 2/3 or 3/4 against us for some time.

can you tell me the powerball numbers then since you can see the future like that Mr Wizard?

You don't agree that Florida and Bama have consistently played more physical football than us the last two years?
Obviously, I'm not saying that Miles can't bring us back to that level, I'm just saying that he needs to.

IMO, there's still a difference between adversity at a place like USC, Oklahoma, Miami and Michigan and what any team in the SEC will have to deal with, particularly the SEC west right now.
We've created a monster with this conference. TV deals that will pay over $3 billion in the next 15 years. 10 solid bowl tie-ins. Major recruiting all over the country. NFL talent everywhere. The best coaches. 90,000 seat stadiums. Constant media attention, etc.
It all looks wonderful on paper but success in football is still measured by wins and losses against each other, and there ain't enough room in the SEC tee-pee for all these chiefs.
To even have a shot at Atlanta and a top 10 ranking, you need coaches and players who can (a) penetrate a Nick Saban defense and (b) stop a Bobby Petrino offense. You don't often see a team that is balanced enough to expect that. Not to mention avoid any slipups against Ole Miss, Auburn or Miss St, all of whom are improving themselves and were never easy outs, especially on the road.

miles needs to do something we have lost what ever we had in 07, bama and florida now own the sec, and were just 3rd best at best, i mean bama does have a coach that did the same thing here, rebuild our program to where it is to day so naturlay they are going to be good. its miles job to make sure the profram continues its greatness but the last two years have been nothing short of great

People on this site hate to see LSU lose. Whether they lose three times, six times, etc, people cant stand it. And it hurts even more when all they think is how great we are going to be. Saying we are falling back to medicority means that their expectaions can only be exceeded and not "ole missed" which makes people feel alot better.

No not really. The last two Bama games LSU has held their own on the physical side. I view each season as a new team, new season so I think LSU can win/compete with all SEC teams over that period. Things go in cycles, Bama/UF will have issues comeing up much like LSU has had the last two seasons

Right. That's what people want.
Not being blissfully content with an 8-8 SEC record and 108th ranked offense equals wanting LSU to fail.
Ridiculous. Read my sig.
