if you go by out of conference performances it's not out of the question

I have heard this for years. Defind what criteria we are baseing this on??????

Teams ranked Highest. SEC- (FL 1 & AL 2) can't get much higher than that?

Recent NATIONAL Titles (last 4 years)... SEC. 4 in last 5 years.

Bowl teams and results... SEC sent 9 last year and 7 won bowl games?

Some think parity in a conference makes it the best?

Lets just look at this years big games and the Championship Games

Pac 10 = Oregon 9-2 vs Oregon State 8-3 (Just happens to have the best two playing in last game)
ACC = Clemson 8-4 vs Georgia Tech 10-2
Big East = Cincinati 11-0 vs Pittsburg 9-2
Big 12 = Texas 12-0 vs Nebraska 9-3
Big 10 = Ohio State 10-2 vs Iowa 10-2 (If they had Championship Game)
SEC = Alabama 12-0 vs Florida 12-0

I don't know but it's pretty clear??????

The P10 has 7 of 10 with a .500 record or better, strong teams at the top, plus the league does not schedule near as many rent a win games OOC like most other teams do.

You can't knock on a conference for 1 year, the big 12 would have more respect if the Sooners would have not lost 5 or 6 starters they would have been decent. Big 12 is second IMO, the fudge Pac10 is over-rated. They play no defense (worse than the big12) and try to play finese football.

I cant see how the Pac-10 could be considered anything but weak.

The criteria is anything you want it to be.
