It seems to me that LSU's defense has serious conditioning problems, or a lack of depth. In the first halves the defense is cold, but in the second half, particularly the 4th quarter, teams rack up yards against us. Is anyone else noticing this? And is there anywhere where I could look up the stats for our 1st half defense compared to our 2nd half defense?

It's a combination of conditioning and opposing coaching staffs making adjustments at halftime, which our coaching staff seems reluctant to do.

It would help the conditioning of the Def, if our Off. could hold onto the ball more.

It only looks that way after about 88 plays. Seriously, they'd look alot better if our Offense could stay on the field. I've been looking at it the complete opposite. I've been wondering how fit they are, being out there soooo long.

Any defense that that is out there as long as LSU's is bound to get tired.

Look at the UF game... Florida had the ball what seemed like the entire game... Many defenses would of gotten absolutely exhausted and woule of allowed florida to rack up the score.

I actually think out conditioning as a team is excellent. If we could just sustain longer drives on offense our D would be beasting it up an entire game instead of allowing a few scores towards the end.

I've wondered this myself. It looked like they ran out of gas last night in the 4th quarter.

its because the defense is on the field all damn night cause the offense has been bad. Almost double the snaps compared to the O.

I don't think Arky's 2nd half success was due as much to the lack of our conditioning as to the adjustments.

Our DL in and of itself just doesn't bring the heat so Chvais compensated by blitzing, etc in the 1st half. Arky ran the ball much more frequently/effectively in the 2nd half to force us to respect the run more.

I give the Chief lots of credit last night. Arky has an O that's playing as well as anyone's and we did a good job in slowing them down.

Agree. I was amazed and proud we held them to 6 first half points.

It also may because of the bend dont break defense which often gives up 3rd and longs, thus keeping the defense on the field giving the opposing offense more plays and accumulate more yards than LSU's offense.

LSU gives up 37% conversion rate on 3rd downs, thats too high in my opinion.

SEC school.....3rd down defense
Florida............26.22
Alabama............28.92
Ole Miss...........30.73
Auburn.............33.73
Tenn...............34.12
Arkansas...........36.02
Georgia............36.20
Miss St............36.36
South Carolina.....36.63
LSU................36.76

And a lot of those 3rd downs aren't short yardage situations either.
