Flynn completed a 65 yard TD to Jacob Hester that got called back for..... wait for it......illegal procedure (not enough men on the line of scrimmage).
It's a good thing we've fixed that since 2007
i was waiting to bring this up
our OFFENSE has problems lining up and getting the play off. it was the same in 2007

50% competion rate for 5 ypa and 1:1 TD:INT is not JJ numbers
Really? Add a TD and lower that completion % and that is pretty much his stats this past Saturday. JJ has led the worst offense in the last 20 years at LSU.

his completion rate was around 50%, but he had 2:1 TD:INT, and a 6.8 ypa. that's double flynn's

no running game will do that, as well as an OL that can't pass block well

flynn, but i think by the time JJ is a Sr he will be ther better Qb.
that

in 2007 we ran the ball FOUR HUNDRED AND NINE times for a 4.9 ypc average
in 2009 we 3.8 ypc average
in 2007, when we'd run the ball, we'd get a full yard better than we get this year

Taking a lot of sacks, not being able to throw down field and throwing passing high will do that too.

I agree 100% with that.
It wasn't as bad in 2007, or maybe it was, but our QB was good enough to pick up the first down after losing the 5 yards that year.

Did the original poster ever answer as to whom he would take? I have a hard time believing he could honestly pick this year's version of JJ if he only gets one season. I like JJ quite a lot but that would be a strange, purposefully against the grain choice.
Regarding stats (if that is your main focus), folks need to recall that MF did not get some of the garbage time stats that help to pump up overall numbers because of RP getting some time (and I think he even played a whole game in a stat padding blowout over Mid Tenn or some similar school).
I do agree that Flynn could run hot and cold, but he was very seldom ineffective over the course of a whole game (Ky. is the only that comes to mind and we still have plenty of chances to win, dropped TD in end zone, etc.). And, perhaps the most important thing was that Flynn generally got the ball out ON TIME. A very underrated aspect of QB play.
I do look forward to seeing JJ continue to progress and if the point of this thread is to point out that JJ has been better than some people think, then that's OK by me.

Matt Flynn 2007:
202 of 359 2407 yards, 56.3 comp%, 21 TDs & 11 INT's, 125.76 RAT
Jordan Jefferson 2009 (projected):
166 of 269 1947 yards, 61.5 comp%, 15 TDs & 5 INT's, 136.9 RAT
I would give the nod to JJ. Crowton needs to let JJ pass more from the pocket and drop the option BS.

because he could get the play off without running out of time, consistently after 11 games....mabe more mature is the word, but it is evident...sorry it bothers you so much, but the if you don't see that jj is uncomfortable out there, you aren't paying attention...
And I promise you I have put more thought into it....There is more to playing QB than having a great arm...Flynn will do more in the pros....Jamacus has all the gifts, but he can't put it together for whatever reason..

JJ has had a better season, statistically, and he's played harder good teams (flynn played no elite teams in the regular season really)
Flynn made plays to win games that year and JJ hasn't quite done that yet.
That said, JJ takes too much shite on here. He's absolutely gotten better this year and he's really not that bad. Rewatching the Ole Miss game, he made several really great throws and decisions.

kinda like JJ missing his stat-padding game against la tech?

Because his receivers are catching a 10 yard pass and taking it 30 yards not because he is hitting them 30 yards down field. By no means I want JL to see the field but our offense was better last year than this year.

different playclock
and we struggled getting plays off in time in 2007, and we lined up wrong all the time, etc

Could the lack of a running game be that there are 8 and 9 people in the box because they do not have any respect for JJ throwing the ball down field? Argue all you want but LSU has not played a QB capable of running a SEC team this year. I thought Lee would be improved and a better QB but I will be the first to admit a was wrong, wrong, wrong.

no
this is a myth
our OL can be handled by 3-4 DL. there is no need for an 8th man

before the NC game, MF had only 17TD passes.
regular season, MF = avg, with several mediocre games mixed in
bowl game, MF = lights out, so many will remember MF as being very good, since he was great his last game.
