Ok...the sky is NOT falling...for a dose of reality Tiger...

...not posiTiger or negaTiger...
Who truly thought...with a true So. QB starting after a handful of starts last season...that we would run through this tough SEC schedule with one or two losses.
Realistically, with an unproven QB, I felt than 9-3 would be a stellar year. Realistically, I could see us losing the 3 games we've already lost...and one more slip up. I've got to see that realistic expectations should have been 9-3.
NOW...Miles' clock management has been HORRIBLE his entire tenure at LSU. He needs to man up...and admit that he stinks at clock management...beg the forgiveness of his team and the LSU fan base...and get friggin' help! Announce to the sporting news world that you've hired a consultant to come in and teach the dummy how to manage the clock under several different scenarios.
Here's the bottom line:
Next year, we've got a much more seasoned...JJ coming back as a Junior to lead the Tigahs. He'll be better next year as will the whole team. We've got a TON of talent returning, and with his increased experience leading the offense, maybe JJ can be the QB he has the potential to be...not just when he has a month to prepare for game. Let's face it, he's look his best with multiple weeks to prepare...see the GT and AU beat downs!
Last week's loss was due to an inexcusable coaching gaff. But our struggles over the past 2 seasons can be most directly linked to inexperience at the most precious position on the field...QUARTERBACK!!! RP's screw up...screwed us.
Let's not forgot how horrible LSU was in the 90's...the talent level hit bottom as the HC's successfully lined up poor recruiting class and poor recruiting class.
Here's the book on Saban and Miles:
2002 LSU's class #15...in '03 #1...in '04...#2...in '05...#22, in '06....#7...in '07...#4...in '08...#11...in '09...# 2...and thus far in '10...#4.
Keep the talent coming...consider a new hire at OC (it may be needed based more on Crowton's history...and lack of taking risk with JJ at the helm). We're doing just fine.

I'm not reading all of that drivel.

its not the record its the way the team performs in victory and defeat

There are just some fans you will never convince and the sky will always be falling. 10-3 is what pretty much everyone realistically predicted and that's fine, for now.
Next year is Miles make or break year though.

I can no longer measure Miles' success with wins and losses.

It's a pretty bold assumption to think we'll get to 10-3.

you're right. had JJ been a seasoned junior, none of this bull shite would have taken place. damn inexperienced soph. qb's!!!!!!!!

I know little league coaches that would spank Miles arse if they had the talent that the LSU team has. There is no excuse.
If you are ok with this year, then you are part of the reason LSU sucked so bad thru the 90's.
We have to demand better and expect the best.
Laugh all you want at Alabama fans but they excpect to win a NC every year. Anything less is failure. Thats why they have won so many.
Being "ok" with a horrible coach and season will just make sure we return to the middle of the pack LSU of the 90's.

This won't do any good. Every situation is unique. You need someone with the brains to evaluate the situation and know what to do, even without having rehearsed that exact situation previously. Miles' screwups with clock management have ranged from not knowing the rules to not realizing what down it was to not realizing we hadn't called time out to not realizing it was important to get plays in fast to execute a 2-minute drill. In short, his failures are across the board and happen in virtually all situations that require quick thinking and game situation awareness. That can't be taught. He's just a dumbass, and will always suck in these situations.

This year, he was "much more seasoned" than he was last year. Have you seen ANY improvement? Jordan Jefferson was making his 12th start on Saturday. He's been through two entire fall camps and one full spring. He's started a bowl game and a full slate of eight SEC games. Neither Matt Mauck nor Matt Flynn had as much experience going into 2003 or 2007, even though they were chronologically older.
Lack of experience is not his problem. Lack of intelligence is.

Good Post.
Ole Miss loss hurt bad, but it's over.
The football gods gave us payback for our 1-second miracle win in Baton Rouge 37 years ago.
This loss is now part of LSU - Ole Miss folklore.
Let it go. Cheer on this Tiger team Saturday night, and we will finish 10-3.
That will be top ten, a good step forward from last year and a nice springboard into 2010.

I will admit that when you put the team's components together, it can play well above the level of its major parts. LSU overall is about #12.

You and RobbBobb or whatever his name is need to go hang out at a rest stop and tickle each other's balls. You and he can bash JJ in between that.

That's the key. Not many teams have talent across the board and 2 or 3 deep.

I thought they would lose a few games.
I didn't think that Miles would lose a game in so ridiculous a fashion that LSU would be the laughing stock of the NCAA.

7 and 8.
He was 500 in conference at OSU. He's taken the program to his level.
Duh!

I think we'd all agree that the players on LSU's team are scrappy. What other way is their to describe the great last play (not the one second play, the long pass beforehand).

The Titanic is face down in the ocean and has filled 2/3rd's with water and you're telling people "everything's okay."
I think I'll take my reality over yours.

Yeah. LSU is a scrappy team. Kinda like LaTech or Fresno. Not dominating. Not fearsome. Not even tough. Just scrappy.
